Want To Promote EOS In Hong Kong?

I got an e-mail today looking for people to help with the EOS hackathon in Hong Kong on June 9th and 10th. Here is what the e-mail said.

EOSIO developers, we need you!

Can you spin up an EOSIO dev node with your eyes closed? Do you know your way around EOSIO's C++ API? Do the words "cleos," "nodeos" and "keosd" mean anything to you? Do you believe that the future is in DAPPs?

If your answer to any of these questions is "yes," and you love contributing to the EOSIO community, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for volunteers to be Technical Mentors at the EOS Global Hackathon in Hong Kong, June 9-10. Applicants who are accepted will receive travel expenses to and from Hong Kong, as well as hotel expenses, up to the value of US$2,000.

In addition to being a vital part to our kick-off hackathon, applicants will have the chance to share their knowledge of the platform and help those who are trying to build amazing and innovative projects on EOSIO.

Teams from around the world are lined up to participate in the first event in our EOS Global Hackathon series – which will include five events from June to December. In total, we’ll be giving out US$1,500,000 in awards. This is a great opportunity to connect with the growing global EOSIO development community.

To apply, please email [email protected] with “volunteer mentor” in the subject line and provide the following information:

Your name
City and country of residence
Why you are interested in EOSIO
How well you know EOSIO
What tech stacks you are most proficient in

If you have the right credentials, we will respond with additional information and details.

As a part of the Mentors team, you’ll be helping hackathon participants with:

Questions from new EOSIO DAPP developers who may be getting stuck as they get started
Questions from mid-level EOSIO DAPP developers who know the ropes but may not understand the best tools, easiest shortcuts, or the right solution for a hack build
General tech troubleshooting questions

We look forward to hearing from you!

Conclusion

I e-mailed them for my chance to help out with the hackathon. That would be an amazing experience. I'm going to be running an updated version of the testnet here in a couple of days and really stepping up my skills in preparation for the mainnet launch.

Here was my last video as a beginning guide to development on EOS.

Is there some reason why you're using a command line and not a GUI interface? I use Embarcadero's Rad Studio (Delphi, C++) to interact with Dll's, dylibs, and other external data structures. The stuff you're doing is what I used to do back around 1981 on a PDP1170 mainframe. It's not a wallet that your novice grandmother is going to want to use, yet. One wrong move with that private key and poof. Everything you just did is fraught with hazards to anyone not adequately trained.

I'm new to blockchain programming, but have written software professionally for a couple decades now. Back in the 90's I used to use PGP back when it was integrated with Eudora (then the government stepped in) so I'm familiar with public / private key and hashing algo's.

I start Ivan OnTech's coding June 1.

Well with EOS there aren't a lot of front ends built to interact with cleos. Also the testnet code was constantly changing as well so building a lot so far could have been counter productive.

There is a browser extension called Scatter that is in development to be a wallet for EOS

Thanks. I just saw NS James project the other day. Not ready yet to expose my private key to the internet though, but would like to use the public key to check balance in the mean time.

Cool man, I really hope you get in!! That would be an amazing experience :)

Yeah it would be for sure. There are going to be some really skilled people in the running and I'm not sure how many people they need. If I don't get in this time I'm hoping they have a hackathon in the US or Canada and maybe I can get on board with that one.

Hi

Let me suggest something that may help your readers a lot. You should justify your posts.

The difference will be huge. Just like on picture below:

You can find it explained quite well here:

Post is already a bit to old to upvote :(

Yours, Piotr

If you are going through hell, keep going.
