EOS dAPP - Everipedia
Everipedia are reimaging their platform on the EOS network and will be airdropping tokens (called IQ) to all EOS token holders (that have been registered) on June 15th the 1-1 matching.
A decentralized incentive based store of knowledge is a fantastic idea (in my opinion) as we as mere humans put more effort into tasks when there is a reward at the end, (Steemit anyone). Incentivizing people to curate will promote adoption faster than merely offering pride for sure.
Everipedia already have a [centralized presence] (https://everipedia.org) and are a 'competitor' of wikipedia. Content aside, Everipedia has a much sexier look and feel than Wikipedia, but they both follow a similar model. With the introduction of incentive-based content creation and a slick looking interface, I would like to see this sore in usage; I will certainly be using it. You will be able to 'earn' IQ tokens by creating and submitting content to the site; these tokens will give you a stake in the game and allow you to vote on future features, modifications, and additional article submission approvals. I think the idea of giving curators some control of the platform that they invest a lot of their time into will bring together a strong community that will deliver great content that we can all benefit from ( again in my opinion).
The Everipedia network will look to fund itself by minting new IQ tokens and auction them off for EOS tokens. These tokens will be used to add resources such as bandwidth, storage and compute power needs as the dApp grows and if need be, they can resort to the traditional crowdfunding method.
The EPN (The Everipedia Network) is made up of four core components (smart contracts) that will handle the various functions.
- The Governance Module
- This module will have control over every aspect of the dApp except for token related tasks.
- The Token Module
- This module will handle all functions related to tokens, i.e. transfers, balances, applying transaction fees etc.
- The Article Module
- This one should be self-explanatory. It will handle post/edit requests. As a simple spam protector, edit requests must include a small amount of IQ which will be returned to the submitter if the content is successfully applied.
- IPFS nodes (InterPlanetary File System)
- These nodes will control file access in a distributed manner, IPFS is super sweet.
All in all, this sounds like an auspicious project in my view, the white paper delves into all the technical goodness you could need and is a good read.
