The statue looks very realistic. Following the new trends and the desire to match the fashion, people really sometimes completely mindlessly make such purchases.But You are absolutely right that it is necessary to be aware of how we dispose of unnecessary or boring things. How are they disposed of and how safe is it for the environment? Recently I saw an article about how long the decomposition of some types of waste lasts. I was very surprised by this number of years. For example, plastic bags,which we often use in our daily life, can decompose from 100 to 1 thousand years, and plastic bottles – from 450 years or more. I think that we should try to reduce the use of some of them in our lives , thereby reducing the amount of waste, the decomposition of which takes many years. Thank you for a good post!

I've never had a gnome or gorilla for my garden. And yet...I'm ok ;) Lol! But I do appreciate your care for the environment and sharing your thoughts about it as well as directing people to environmentally compassionate companies to support. Well done!

That’s interesting. The fad here is still seems to favor concrete garden statues and figurines. In fact, I can think of three large roadside places near where I live that deal almost exclusively in concrete garden features. I’ve been in on of those places – they also had some amazing wood sculpture on offer. The resin items are common in the big-box stores, like Walmart and Target, though.
As for those gnomes, there’s a collectors market for them these days. Tossing them in the bin is virtually throwing money away. Everything old is new again to someone. We have to stop throwing everything away because we’re done with it. Most things can be recycled, reused, or repurposed.
Did you know there are new plastics that decompose naturally? There are essentially two types: bioplastics which are made from stuff like cellulose or cornstarch; and biodegradable petrochemical plastics engineered to break down more quickly. Of course, there’s also so-called “eco-plastics” that are made from recycled petrochemical plastics.
I am aware that we have made a terrible mess of the whole planet.
It's really not good enough. We must act accordingly to mitigate the problems we have caused.
