3 Sites To Help You Brainstorm Business Ideas

So one of the most common things I see people struggle with are they want to start a side hustle or they want to start a business, but they have no idea where to start.
I see oftentimes people will fall into the trap of just rushing into whatever the hot fad or trend of the moment is whether that be dropshipping or running a POD store. Nothing wrong with that if you have an idea and know a market you can sell to, but one shoudln't rush into an area like that just because it's one of the common low barrier to entry areas they see that they can get started in. Doing that will lead you to fail.
In today's video I just wanted to show off a couple sites that I frequent that help to get me brainstorming, that show me ideas and businesses others are doing.
While there's many more sites than just these, here are a few of the sites I commonly turn to while trying to think of business ideas or when I'm trying to get a brainstorming session started.
- Empire Flippers
Empire Flippers is essentially a business broker. If someone wants to sell a business they advertise the business and put it out on the platform with the revenue and sales stats and talk about the business. Typically they are somewhat vague about what the business does or sells and they rarely share domains but none the les it can be a valuable source for finding ideas.
- Shopify Exchange
The Shopify Exchange is also a business broker site. People who have Shopify stores they want to sell can list their businesses on the Shopify Exchange. What I like about the Shopify Exchange is the sales stats are pulled directly from Shopify so there's no funny business in terms of revenue, it's all documented on Shopify. They also almost always share the domain so you can actually see people's stores. Not only can this platform be helpful to find business ideas, but if you have already started a business and want to get a peak at what your competitors websites look like, what conversion apps they are using, what types of content they are creating on their blog, etc you can see all that. One thing to be aware of with Shopify Exchange is many people throw together garbage stores that have never made a profit strictly with the intention of selling it to someone new to eCommerce so I'd suggest sorting by businesses that are at least a year old.
Reddit has a number of great SubReddits where people will come and ask for feedback on their business or talk about their business. A few that come to mind off the top of my head are r/reviewmyshopify r/ecommerce r/entrepreneur r/entrepreneurridealong among others. People will often share their shop, their tactics and sales stats and reach out to the community for help. This is a great way to see what others are doing and what others are having success with as well as not having success with.
