Coining A New Term: Massiverse
Grammarly tells me I spelled it wrong...
Aside from my presence on Steemit, I also write for a very specific niche on DeviantArt. In this process, I've been brewing an idea for a narrative device that would effectively allow me to trample upon any and every fictional or nonfictional universe to explore the nature of IEntity and their Liaison. IEntity is most commonly perceived as a corporate body of some sort, though that is one of its many faces. The Liaison is intended to faintly draw upon respect for Rod Serling and Lord RayEl's Imperial Regent, Angelus Domini (don't tell him, he's bashful). He is an interloper of worlds on behalf of greater powers, a faintly suave blend of kinkiness, mystery, class, wisdom, and reserved intellect. IEntity and the Liaison will not usually be protagonists themselves, but rather exist to drive a plot. I do intend to give the Liaison his own story or arc at some point, however, after fanfare warms up a bit. (I actually have fans, that's weird.)
I reference both figures across most of my fictional works, even if only by unnamed description. They both operate by navigating and operating within a multiverse that is simply too big and complex to fit within the term "multiverse."
If you are aware of the published theories about how a multiverse might look, those questioning whether or not we ourselves exist within one, you have some idea. One popular version of the theory is that in a multiverse, everything that can happen, every fork in the paths of causality, every direction of fate and experience is explored. Every time-space continuation is supposedly structured more like infinite branches from an undiscernible starting point. In one fork of that multiverse, you were born with your mother's nose instead of Pop's. In another, you had a different name, or a different first pet, or better grades in school. In another verse, schools were never invented.
Then we factor fictional universes and multiverses. DC and Marvel Corporations both respectively own several such continuities. Some characters are known for traveling between worlds, timelines, dimensions, and separate realities. Spiderman alone has a plethora of different identities and versions such as Spider Gwen, for example. Suppose the Liaison wanted to travel to Mordor to offer some movie popcorn to Sauron since his eye is watching everybody when they go squat behind a Tree Ent to do their business?
Then there are universes of my own imagining which he would need access to. And what about multiverses within other multiverses? My point is this: one single multiverse does not encompass the entirety of the endless realm these figures will inhabit.
So I went and invented for myself and fans the "Massiverse." Has a nice ring to it.
