English Phrasal Verbs (26/365) - Pass Out/Pass Out Something
To pass out can have several meanings.
To lose consciousness (intransitive = without object)
Example sentences:
- I drank too much vodka and passed out.
- John pass out after being hit hard in the head.
To distribute something (transitive, with an object)
Example sentences:
- Questionnaires were being passed out at the shopping center to all shoppers.
- Face-to-face fundraisers were passing out leaflets on the street.
To graduate (of policemen, soldiers etc.) market by a ceremony after training (in the UK and the Commonwealth)
Example sentences:
- The passing out parade was impressive. The cadets had all passed out in style.
It is curious that the last example the translator can not translate well. But with the first examples I could like it. Thanks for today's contribution.
