Centennial Fashion: The Daring 80´s (1980-1990)
And now we are in the age of the daring, the music, the excesses and the color. The eighties love our generation and we live it with joy! I always remember the shiny outfits of celebrities on TV and the elaborate hairstyles they used to do dreaming they could do the same by using a lot of my mom's hair spray but without the desired result. Certainly hairdressing wasn't my thing.
But those who did can attest to an era for history where Madonna's music was the trend becoming an icon of this era.
Neon colors and extra-large accessories prevailed in everyone's outfits, accompanied by garments full of tears, badges, patches, etc.
It was very common in gyms and on TV to see girls and boys working out, which is shown in many movies of the time, wearing lycra in bright colors and also multicolored socks.
In terms of work style, women opted more for skirt or trouser outfits with jackets in more serious colors. It should be noted that so-called "shoulder pads" were very popular.
After work, the clothes changed to a more casual style, where the wide and colorful sweaters made their appearance with irregular necklines and often without shoulders. As for the trousers, they wore high waist jeans a lot.
But a good outfit wasn't complete without a hairstyle at the height, yes, very high. The hair spray was essential for every woman to add that long awaited fashionable touch to her hair. There is no woman in her eighties who did not get a "perm".
As for the make-up, it stood out for the combination of pink tones with mauves and even yellows with some touches of brightness.
Definitely a time to remember. That was all for this delivery but I'll be waiting for you in a next opportunity where we'll be sewing and undoing the history of fashion.
