Today I will return to discuss the world of construction, the world of construction is growing until now, this is in accordance with our needs against the construction itself. In the world of construction, we recognize the division of fields in every building construction work, such as structural (civil), Architectural, Plumbing, and others.

Today's discussion only I specialize in architectural work, architectural work itself has an important role in the world of construction, architectural work usually serves as a finishing job.

One of the architectural work is, the floor coating work, the floor of the building that is not coated with a particular material will be very disturbing, you can coat it with any material, which is important you are comfortable.

In the past, humans did not use floor coating on every house, you can find it almost in every traditional house in Indonesia, like traditional Papuan traditional house.

In accordance with human needs, the development of floor coatings continues to innovate to date, starting from the use of mats, wood, ceramics and natural stone.

I am interested in the discussion of floor coatings made of natural stone, considering in Indonesia today this type of material commonly used.

We'd better get closer to this material especially granite.

GRANITE

Granite is a type of natural stone commonly used in construction work, these rocks are igneous rocks derived from magma or commonly called intrusion, igneous rocks that have high levels of quartz (felsik).

The average density of granite is 2.75 gr / cm³ with a range between 1.74 and 2.80. The word granite comes from the Latin granum. source

In Indonesia, in addition to granite and marble there are several other types of materials commonly used, one of which is ceramic. although it has a slightly more expensive price than ceramics, granite still has its own advantages such as.

  1. Granite has a much better resilience than ceramics, so granite can be formed in various sizes, ranging from 30x30 cm to 120 x 120 cm. While ceramics can only be formed with much smaller size, ceramics will be easily damaged if created with a larger size, it happens because the density of a ceramic material is not good as granite. With a larger size granite is easier when installed on the floor, and will also reduce errors when installed. source

  2. The granite strength is much better because granite is processed by burning at a temperature of 1230 Co with compressive strength up to 7200 PH, while the ceramic is only able to survive at a temperature of 1000 Co. In accordance with the results of the analysis, ceramics are only able to withstand loads of 300 kg/cm2 different with granite that can withstand loads up to 450 kg/m2. source

  3. Granite has a high resistance to scratches, the durability of ceramics is not as good as granite because ceramic use only glazes as a coating material surface. source

  4. Granite is more precise than ceramic, granite is processed by cutting while ceramic is formed through molds. source

In the market today there are synthetic granites that can be obtained easily at a price much cheaper than the granite made of natural stone.

I will make an example of how you can calculate the labor and material requirements for completing the 60 × 60 cm granite installation as a floor coating.

Calculate the required labor and materials

Workers are resting after installing synthetic granite flooring. @kharrazi documentation

For example, I will finish the floor coating work using granite as floor coating with bedroom size 5x5 m or 25 m2, then how many labor and materials needed to complete the work?

In accordance with the technical analysis of Indonesian National Standard, to complete 1 m2 of floor coating work using granite size 60x60 cm is required.

Labor

InformationCoefficient
Workers0.700 Person per day
Floorman0.350 Person per day
Foreman0.035 Person per day
Overseer0.035 Person per day

Material

InformationCoefficient
Granite size 60x60 cm3,100 pieces
Portland cement9,600 kg
Color cement1,600 kg
River Sand0.045 m3

So to complete the installation work of granite floor with a total area of 25 m2 is required.
Labor

Workers0.700 Person per day x 16 m217.500 Persons per day
Floorman0.350 Person per day x 16 m28.750 Persons per day
Foreman0.035 Person per day x 16 m20.875 Persons per day
Overseer0.035 Person per day x 16 m20.875 Persons per day

CONCLUSION

Floor coating work is a finishing job and is included in architectural work in the construction world, initially the floor coating is not considered important, but because of the human need for comfort, up to now the floor coating has become an important component.

One of the floor coating materials is granite, granite is a natural stone formed due to frozen magma and become crystals, granite rocks are usually cut as needed, because it has a hard nature and good resistance then granite is considered one of the good floor coating material up to currently.

To complete the installation of granite size 60x60 cm with a working area of 25 m2 is required.

Material

InformationAmount
Workers17.500 Persons per day
Floorman8.750 Persons per day
Foreman0.875 Persons per day
Overseer0.875 Persons per day

Material

InformationAmount
Granite size 60x60 cm77.500 Pieces
Portland cement240.000 kg
Color cement37.500 kg
River Sand1.125 m3

The above calculation is only an example and in accordance with the calculation of technical analysis of Indonesian National Standard, The calculation can be used by anyone and can adjust to a needs in a field.

Nowadays you can easily find this material, even today it has created cheaper synthetic granite with the same strength as the original granite or natural stone.

I really like this post @kharrazi, what else is discussing one of the natural stone, which I think is best in class for us to make our tiles.

Very good post, and this article can be a reference for friends who want to know about Granite Stone. Thanks for the information @ kharrazi.
Memang Guree sangat luar biasa........

very good and very useful from this article to be developed in the world of development field, thanks for its information.

That's huge i formation for this post. If anyone make building then this information will be help them....

Hopefully useful
Thanks :)

The architectural work is wonderful. It is the specialty of the architect and the civil engineer, and we note that the architecture has developed a lot, especially as you look at the skyscrapers in Dubai, make you aware of the evolution of architecture @kharrazi

yes, I really enjoy this field
architecture and civilian will continue to grow every day
Thanks for stopping by ;)
