The Connection Between Trapped Emotional Energy and the Formation of Limiting Beliefs in Children

Emotions play an integral part in the formation of our beliefs at a very young age. The emotions we are exposed to as children become the ‘dominant’ emotions that we tend to return to time and time again. They become familiar to us and the mind loves what is familiar. It feels safe and comfortable (even if the emotion is something deemed as being quite unsafe such as terror or helplessness). Sensitive children absorb the emotions of those around them which is later in life termed as being an ‘empath’ i.e. being able to sense what others are feeling.

When we have this ability at a young, immature age we unconsciously take on board the energies of those around us without even knowing it. These emotions often set the frequency for how we relate to the world. If we are carrying around a burden of anxiety or anger, we tend to adjust our thinking in a way that makes sense of the presence of those emotions that are within us. These dominant emotions then get triggered more frequently and become integrated in a child’s beliefs about themselves and the world.

This early identification with these emotions is in direct contrast to what a child’s Higher Self knows to be true which creates an internal division within them because none of these emotions are normal to a child’s true Self. The soul knows that they are neither ‘anger’ nor ‘helplessness’ but that these are simply emotions they have felt at some point in time as part of the experience on this hu-man journey.

A child’s soul knows they are beyond all of these feelings - quite untouched and unharmed by any of the emotions they have felt or absorbed. This internal division creates dissonance within a child which can manifest in a myriad of physical and behavioural ways. Our Higher Self is always with us, to guide the way and the things we see as ‘issues’ and ‘problems’ are only there because we have veered away from our true path, which is love.

This pattern of absorbing emotions at a young age, or experiencing something traumatic that creates an influx of a certain type of emotion has a direct effect on the creation of certain beliefs within a child. The more limiting beliefs present (i.e. the more we suppress the truth of our Higher Self), the more problems we are likely to encounter, which can range from food allergies, skin issues, motor and vocal tics, hair loss and oppositional defiance behaviour to depression and insomnia.

Emotional energy healing is crucial to breaking down these habits, patterns and beliefs because it releases the presence of those initial emotions that are held within a child’s body. Once these are released a parent can then help their child to build up resilience and self-esteem through positive, conscious parenting. What is fascinating is that our children often act as mirrors to own similar limiting beliefs/suppressed emotions that we are holding within ourselves. There are no coincidences in this life…
