{listen} June 2018 Playlist

After pretty much exhaustively listening to this mix from the Planet Uterus stable, I finally caught up on all the tracks I've been missing out on. There was a lot. So much so that I've not only nailed my June playlist, July is sorted and I could easily launch into August's without much thought.

As per usual, everything is culled from Spotify and collated into Playmoss. Yeah, you need Spotify to listen to the things, but it isn't a huge step to take in order to get hold of great sounds. Playmoss is also great place to catch up on the history of this playlist series. My monthly series picks out ten tracks, it is a nice amount to be able to write about and an easily digestible amount for a high content society.

Melquíades - Morning Breeze

Australian Alex Albrecht has been pretty prevalent this year. His style is sun kissed and Balearic, made for bodies sapped of energy by summer sun but still craving dance floor momentum. His releases can vary from pure chill out to deep house grooves, offering many facets to get into. This recent track from 'Blue Caves' is one of many stand out tracks from over the year.

Isolée - L5 Syndrome

I've mentioned the benefits of maintaining a well groomed Spotify library in past playlists, and consider this another lesson. 'L5 Syndrome' popped up into a Spotify Radio session when I was too distracted to kick off some music to listen to. Hypnotic, chugging and dubby, this hits the spots. Could easily see Craig Richards giving this a workout at Fabric.

Brother Nebula - A Brief History Of Lasers

Promo volume is never anything but high. One of the most morale sapping things is the feeling that you want to commit to writing, but full well knowing you don't have the capacity. This piece of throwback nineties breaks is just one such release that slipped through the cracks. Take this as a repentance and a chance for you to have a little under the radar gem flagged for attention.

Peggy Gou - Travelling Without Arriving (Ge-ology Remix)

Peggy Gou has been on nothing short of top form since arriving on the scene. She's spread releases across a multitude of respected imprints such as Rekids and Ninja Tune's club offshot Technicolour. She returns to Phonica on her latest release with some more good vibes straight up house. Remixer Ge-ology turns up the heat with an excellent rough edged re-rub. Fantastic.

Spencer Parker - Riff Shapes (Rising Sun Remix One)

Confession time. I often find Spencer Parker tracks leave me cold, as if they are half-complete drum tracks just before the magic is sprinkled on. I may be in a minority on this one as his releases garner a lot of support across the various DJs. The same form I find extends to his Work Them imprint, however it does have the uncanny knack of throwing out an absolute belter now and again. His Different Shapes And Sizes remix package has been amazing. Every single cut from it is worthy of note. Fighting off competition from DJ Fett Burger and Tijana T, Rising Sun turns in two Second Toughest era Underworld vibed remixes of 'Riff Shapes'. Absolutely stellar material. This is sitting in a record shop basket that is waiting for me to have a spare £110 to check out, that's how much I endorse this.

MGUN - Gentium

MGUN has just fired out a follow up to his Gentium album, crammed full of off kilter house music. Take this as an opportunity to go back and discover why the 2016 debut was so good. Another under the radar piece of goodness.

Haider - Retrofuturist

Another from my "no time" pile of shame. Great piece of electro in the vibe of the new wave of artists spawning from the lofi scene. Dewy, pastel vibes.

London Modular Alliance - Nebulous Thoughts

You know what, I feel like I should know more than London Modular Alliance than I actually do. Apparently they run a hardware shop in London (unsurprisingly) and have a habit of turning out really effective and engaging breaks and electro. I think I'm going to have to get myself up to speed on these guys in the near future.

Pattern Transform - Chapel Perilous Closed

I actually wrote a Steemit only review about the release this is from. Travel back in time if you want to read at length about it. This is my favourite cut from it, now on Spotify and ready to be added to your library. Do it.
