RE: Got my first flag and almost flagged back in revenge 🚩

Steemit really needs some place for anger to go.
Currently, the only "dislike" button is to flag someone.

So, what do you do with your anger? Most intelligent people just walk away. However, this has the same results as a little orphan post that nobody saw.

Flagging should be a multi-tiered process. Where someone has done something grevious, out of line, an attack on someone else's character.
Then flagging should be done. And the effects should be to hide the post, or it should go up the chain to someone that everyone agrees is level headed to say if the flagging was justified, or just a malicious attack.

A dislike button should be added. However, its behavior needs to be well planned out. Unless other things are changed, it probably should cause no steem loss, but should be a separate number (42 votes ^, 3 votes v) And then this number should be included in the computation of 'trending'.

The reason I think rewards should be compromised is because if the user is so upset at the message they should be able to say why they are upset as opposed to punishing people who may have no idea what it was about the message that bothered them. And if they don't want to spend the time in understanding why a message bothers them and just want to hurt the messenger, they should pay for that, it shouldn't be without consequence. There should at least be a place where you can easily see how many flags a profile has applied, so we know who the haters are.

I believe a web application could be easily written to give a list of flaggers. You just have to parse the block chain. Just nobody has made it yet.

I agree that putting a flag/down vote is annoying without an explanation.

Flagging should cost something. Someone who goes and flags every one of someone else's posts should see some bad consequences. I just have no good idea how to work it. Probably something like vote power %. Flagging a post more than once a day should lower your flag %. And if you flag a bunch of a single person's post, you should have the % drop by cumulative amount for all the flags.

And maybe, it would just be easy to add to the top of someone's home blog, "Flagger extrordinaire" alongside their reputation number.
