ROBOTICS IN EDUCATION

ROBÓTICA EN EDUCACIÓN
If you live around the school community, as a father or as a teacher, you have probably realized that schools are becoming fully involved in robotics and programming. We're trying to follow the steps of countries like Finland or the UK, already working on it, integrating it in the methodology and the curriculum.
‼️WHAT IS ROBOTICS? - ¿QUÉ ES LA ROBÓTICA?‼️
It is an interdisciplinary teaching system based on the strengthening and development of the students' skills and competences. Robots and its applications are a powerful way learning and the development of important values as creativity, thinking and reasoning.
‼️WHY ROBOTICS? - ¿POR QUÉ LA ROBÓTICA?‼️
The main objectives of Robotics are:
- To improve the intellectual effort, the acquisition of computer knowledge and technological fluency.
- To encourage the team work in students, learning that solutions found in group are normally better that those achieved as an individual.
- To learn how to deal with the feeling of frustration that can appear when giving wrong solutions.
- To learn how to use the mistake as a part of the learning process.
- To show students that they're able to solve challenges that are harder and harder, encouraging the acquisition of the self-esteem needed for being a leader.
All of it taking into account that we're playing with a very important value, the playful component, intrinsic in the building of these robots, no matter the model we choose.
‼️WHAT TYPE OF ROBOTS CAN WE BUILT? - ¿QUÉ TIPO DE ROBOTS PODEMOS CONSTRUIR?‼️
There are many models we can choose, but the most common ones in the schools I know are the following:
Hay muchísimos modelos entre los cuales podemos elegir, pero los más usados en los centros educativos que conozco son los siguientes:
Looking forward for your other post. How I wish I was a robot.
Thanks @janreyqm1 :)
I want to teach my daughter robotics when she is older (and learn it myself at the same time). Have you heard about Nao by Aldebaran Robotics? It is not to build oneself but it is amazing what it can do.
You are being followed by a coin puppet!
Please follow it back ;)
No, I haven't heard about it, but I'll defenitely look for information. Thanks for your comment @flauwy!!
I have never created my own robot before.
I didn't have any opportunities like this when I was at school.
Might put it upon me to create and program one.
They're a little bit expensive, but it worths it. Thanks for the comment @arckrai :)
So you are using those in class? What's the background? I recently involved with a team of academics here in Greece that are trying to implement STEM education in the school system.
Not yet, but I will. I'm studying to use it as soon as I can. Thanks for the comment @kouloumos :)
STEM education is the future, you should try to implement and learn about it as soon as possible. The guys that I told you above have an organisation and they go to public and private schools and do those lessons. If there is nothing like this in your area it has a big potential for you if you involve with this type of education and be a pioneer. I used Lego Mindstorms until now and they are really easy to use and with a big community behind them. The only negative is the price tag, they are expensive as hell. A cheap solution is using Arduino but you will need more effort to get them working, but its much much cheaper.
I wrote those info but I don't know your background so you may already know those things =D
I know about arduino, but not much... I'm trying to find short courses to get all the info and start in September. Thank u so much for your comment @kouloumos. Following you!!!
Thank you very much! I am sure that it will not be difficult to find content and guides online to educate yourself. Furthermore because you will need an Arduino and some components to experiment and learn, I would suggest not to buy original Arduino Uno and go for cheap clones that you can easily buy online. I bought recently a bunch of arduino starter kits from AliExpress and they were really cheap comparing to the prices in local stores selling original. If you want I can give you some links but it's really easy to find them.
I'll have a look. Thank you so much @kouloumos :D
Anytime, if you need further assistance let me know!
I will!!!
nice post. I like it. you very amazing in make a post
Thanks @ijoel :)
Change is coming. 🙃
It needs to come, education can't be unchanged for all those years, it HAS to keep up with how technology changes and impacts our lifes.
Hope so!!!
