On Education, Politics, Undi Rosak and Football

An enlightening read, "What Happens When Each State Is Renamed According to Its Education Level." In a nutshell, the failure of a nation is due to the failure of its education system.

Right under our noses in bright and sunny Malaysia, we have a Kedah Chief Minister who said he was educated at "UMNO University" -- So there, the simplistic answer to the speedy regression and current deplorable state of Malaysia.

However, lets not blame UMNO alone.

The three major race-based political parties within the Barisan Nasional (a coalition of 14 political parties including breakaways who claim to be multi- or non-racial political parties) that formed the government AND the opposition (including a religious-based political party) are equally responsible.

Yes, not only BN failed the rakyat, so did the coalition of opposition parties failed the people till today.

But wait a minute... hey, who kept BN in power till today? Eligible voters since Merdeka till last GE, please look in the mirror now. OK, no point ranting and pointing fingers; all water under the bridge now.

So what's the immediate solution to the problem? What's the fastest means available to arrest the rot of governance and to move forward as a nation? Frankly, sacking the current PM and BN is not enough.

Look at the malls today. With Chinese New Year round the corner, I I don't see long lines to pay their shopping bills but more likely window shopping to get away from the heat. Cut to the chase, we seriously have no time to waste. It’s Red Alert! Can you hear the fire alarms ringing in your head with the cost of living going up, your income stagnant and devaluation of our Ringgit?

In my opinion, all politicians and wannabes need to be re-educated. Nope, I don't mean revamping our education system by yesterday or sending Kedah CM and the rest of the politicians (on both political divide) back to school or re-educating generations of Malaysians who were misinformed through rewritten Malaysian History still being taught at school till today. In addition, undoing the indoctrination by Biro Tatanegara (BTN) that is inconsistent with 1Malaysia.

Believe it or not, we do have a simple solution and it can be done in one hour 53 minutes to be exact: Politicians and everyone, please watch again (or if you have not seen) the movie "Ola Bola" -- it’s not just about football -- it’s an impactful true story of Malaysia’s way of life in the 1970s -- in fact, the movie is the true depiction of 1Malaysia.

It is obvious today, coalitions don't work.

Like it or not, we need to revamp our political system to a two party system. Simply put, "If you do what you've always done, you'll get the same results what you've always gotten" -- from the book "Who Moved My Cheese" summarized.

Politics, governing a country or running a business is similar to playing football.

To win the game, there can only be ONE captain in the team or in the ship -- not one captain with 14 captains in 14 sub-teams within the same team as seen in Barisan Nasional giving directions; hence the chaos today.

In addition, winning the game depends on team effort. Every individual counts, each need to put their ego aside and give their best shot as a team. The same applies to every citizen that makes the nation -- every citizen that makes up the team to compete with other nations in any field.

We need to jump start the engine of national growth by starting over as individuals. Especially youths, the young eligible voters, high time YOU step up to secure YOUR future and future generations of Malaysians.

On UndiRosak (Spoil Votes) Campaign

Long story short, the reason why Donald Trump (DT) became US President is precisely because many citizens abstained from voting being dissatisfied with both candidates i.e. DT and Hilary Clinton.

At this critical juncture of our nation with GE14 round the corner, you want to spoil your vote, being dissatisfied with both BN and Pakatan Harapan coalitions? Who isn't> So am I -- tired and frustrated with our defunct political system.

The road ahead is so unclear with parties within each coalition busy fighting for more seats in GE14 than anything else. Not that they care for the citizens, it is a fight for their own personal rice bowl. As Michael Jackson sang, "All I want to say is that they don't really care about us."

[NOTE: This is one of Michael’s most controversial songs of all time, and was accused of being anti-Semitic. The song is a plea against racism and a call for powerful people to stop ignoring human rights.]

By abstaining or spoiling your vote simply means you want BN to stay in power. If that's NOT your intention, give Parti Harapan a chance. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness -- An old Chinese Proverb.

So there, enough said. Think about it before you abstain or spoil your vote.

Your Vote is Your Voice for YOUR future and YOUR children's future.

I repeat: Everyone counts, everyone can do their part no matter how small. Start planting seeds... perhaps at the mamak stall talk about Ola Bola instead of ranting about 1MDB and the politicians? Collectively as a team, we will make this nation great again... just like playing football.

Recommendations:

  1. Make the movie Ola Bola mandatory viewing for the entire nation of eligible voters.
  2. Teachers, screen and discuss this movie as a class activity in all schools and universities nationwide.
  3. Parents, get the DVD and watch with your children, then ask what they learned from it and discuss as a family.
  4. Bedtime story for young and old alike, read “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson. Only 96 pages or view the slides here.

YES, we will believe again.

See you at GE-14.

Go go go go go go... goal!

Much love and God bless Malaysia. Amen.

That was a very very nice post. I would think about editing the tags and replacing football with #newbieresteemday. Your post to me was more politics and educational then about football, and you want to get people to see the post you may get more views that way.

Congratulations you have been upvoted just because I thought it was a very nice well thought out post.

We invite you to use our tag to connect with more of our members. To learn more visit: Come Join Us!!! (Newbie Resteem Initiative)

Done. Thank you very much for your recommendation @bashadow. Very much appreciated.

So Steemians add #newbieresteemday in the box of tags, instead of within the content, right? Erm, I've done both. :p

@patlu, thank you for supporting @steemitboard as a witness.

Once again, thanks for your support!

Malaysia needs change. Hopefully, there will be change this election. If not, hopefully when I can vote next time, my vote will help! We also need a stronger opposition at the same time (with hopefully more funding so they can participate in more community projects to win the 'kampung' votes).
