Learn Guitar: 1.Basic Stuff Video

in #education7 years ago

The link below contains useful text. This approach tries to be the most efficient fastest approach to playing guitar well. This is version 1 of the first section "Basic Stuff." Throughout the week the individual segments of "Basic Stuff" will be posted with their own text discussion.

Below is version 1 of the first section on playing guitar.

It discusses what the 3 maximums are: 1.repetition most important part of learning, 2. being in tune most important part to playing multiple harmonic instruments. and 3 the guitar is tuned in 4ths, except the B string which is tuned as thirds so as to repeat back to E.

In our philosophy of user efficiency optimization we rank learning into 3 levels: 1. nominal, 2. abstract, 3. conceptual. Toward that end we define all 12 notes and intervals in the chromatic scale: A A#/Bb B C C#/Db D D#/Eb E F F#/Gb G G#/Ab A and 1 b2 2 b3 3 4 b5 5 b6 6 b7 7 1 respectively.

The 3 Heuristics are 1. there is no flat/sharp between the notes B/C & E/F, 2. there is no flat/sharp between intervals 7/1 and 3/4, and that these heursitics overlap in the key of C Ionian in which B/C is 7/1 and E/F is 3/4. This heuristics are intended to help one memorize all the notes and intervals in ascending order, which helps one navigate the fret board in an ascending manner.

The next section will be more along the lines of the abstract and conceptual levels starting with the pentatonic scales, basic chords and the 7 modes.

Stay Tuned.

Federalist No. 62 on: overly compex information & state intervention:

“The internal effects of a mutable policy are still more calamitous. It poisons the blessing of liberty itself. It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?

Another effect of public instability is the unreasonable advantage it gives to the sagacious, the enterprising, and the moneyed few over the industrious and uniformed mass of the people. Every new regulation concerning commerce or revenue, or in any way affecting the value of the different species of property, presents a new harvest to those who watch the change, and can trace its consequences; a harvest, reared not by themselves, but by the toils and cares of the great body of their fellow-citizens. This is a state of things in which it may be said with some truth that laws are made for the FEW, not for the MANY.“
