Is AI coming to the classroom?

in #education6 years ago

Imagine a world where everything you do was monitored, from infancy to adulthood to retirement.

This is already becoming a reality.

A Chinese high school in Hangzhou is using facial recognition technology that scans students every 30 seconds.

1. The System is analyzing students' emotions and actions in the classroom, as well as replacing ID cards and wallets at the library and canteen.

2.  Facial recognition technology is widespread in China, where it is being used to predict crime before it happens.

"Intelligent Classroom Behavior Mgmt System" used at Hangzhou No. 11 High School incorporates a facial recognition camera that scans the classroom every 30 sec.

The Camera is designed to log six types of behaviors by students: reading, writing, hand raising, standing up, listening to the teacher & leaning on the desk. It also records facial expressions of students and logs whether they look happy, upset, angry, fearful or disgusted. Info collected by system is analyzed and reported to teachers so they can better supervise the performance of their students.
