Alal, A Sugarcane seller
Last few days, Alal is absent at school. He even not at home to know what is the fact. Yesterday I found him on the street when he was selling Sugarcane. One of his friends had taken a small piece of Sugarcane from his pot and he was running behind the boy asking for money. The boy later agreed to give the money and Alal took a place near the river. He is now waiting for customers.
I asked him why he is not going to school. He said he is sick for a few days and his father asked him to take rest. It is the last working day for him. From tomorrow, he will be regular at school again.
It is true that he was sick for a few days but also selling sugarcane. I asked him how much he could sell since the morning. He said it is about 150 BDT = $1.88 USD in total. This is the total amount he sold which includes his capital too. So if I guess the profit, it will not be more than 0.60 USD.
It was about 3 PM when I met him and he already sold most of the sugarcane he was given by his father.
He and his friend who also out of school were coming from the market. They are smarter than general kids and some of them got attitude are like adults. Alal seems can adapt to the different environment, situation and he has a great understanding level.
I hope he will start coming school and pause his job now.
