A Little Break From Winter: From -5°F to 63°F In Two Days... But Nothing's Strange With Our World!
Oh no the snow is melting!!!
What a great week it's been!
I had the little homie all to myself for a few days, and we hardly paid attention to the old clock. We ate when we felt hungry and we slept when we felt tired! Such freedom only comes once in a while with our civilized ways. And it's too bad because it really seems that living this way is much healthier!
We stayed inside playing, that day the temperatures outside hovered around -5°F. So why not have a pick-nick in the new tent we're bringing to Costa Rica? We needed to eat and I wanted to make sure the tent wasn't missing anything!
The next day was fun too, we headed out with a friend to a small hill to go sledding for the first time this winter!
It didn't last long the cold was still bitter, slightly above 10°F and the smallest in the bunch wasn't having all that much fun!
By the afternoon, the weather had turned, it was nearly 40°F and went to play in DreamLand... I brought a tribuchet back from the set of Elementary (rescued from the dumpster):
It needs a little bit of work and fine tuning on the weights and all that but it works pretty well. He was really excited.
After a good night sleep, we slowly woke up, had a slow breakfast and a band started to show up in the apartment we're staying in!
What a great surprise, and these guys were good too. The name of the band is RootBrew and they came to record a video in our roommate's art studio! Pretty cool, a day of food and music...
...It was nearly 55°F and I wanted to go to DreamLand again to push the snow off the roofs of both campers. Just in case it snows again, I don't want it to pile up too much while we're gone.
And when the work was done, we played pirate because we could, and the little homie happens to own a pirate ship fully equipped with a slide, a plank a couple swings and a million miles square of ocean surrounding it, full of sharks and crocodiles and strange serpent-like creatures that actually are really nice and helped us fight our way through the waters to get our bag of snacks!
The next day it was 63°F, we quickly made our way to sled some more, before the snow melted but we needed some real hills to play on! After a couple hours playing and making a snowman (that we called Frosto, by the way) from a deserted giant snow ball someone had rolled down the hill, we had some pizza and again found ourseles in DreamLand to find some places to sled there too. We just had a blast, nearly hit a couple of trees here and there but we stayed safe and moved on to a snow ball fight...
We were real tired that evening and we slept like purring cats, completely at peace.
If you can, make some time to stop worrying about time, you will engrave awesome memories so deep, no one will forget that time!
Playing, real playing can put you into such a state of being in the moment... Please do try it sometime soon. Put all your responsibilities aside and go play!

Play is so powerful. I remember sitting up the tent inside when my kids were little. Always a good time.
Yeah, I think I did that a lot when I was a kid... a lot of forts out of blankets and sheets too
We just got a new refrigerator and I am sad that there aren't any kids around to make a fort out of the box. I kind of want to make one myself...
Hey sorry for the late reply! Wow six days ago... so did you end up making something out of that box?
Yes! We have three week old puppies who are rapidly outgrowing their house. I think it will make a great fort for them.
