Method 2: The 5 Whys

If you really want to get to the bottom of what it is you want and why you want it, then the 5 whys technique is a good one to try.

If you ask yourself why 5 teams in a row, it enables you to dig deeper into your motivations.

A common dream that many people have is to be a famous novelist, let's dig deeper into the reasons why...

Why 1
I want to create something that I can be proud of

Why 2
I want to leave a legacy and leave a lasting mark

Why 3
I admire other creative individuals who have achieved the same

Why 4
I admire them as they make a living from their writing skills and imagination.

Why 5 (why do you like that idea so much?)

I like being creative and I would love to be recognised for that creativity

As you can see, that made us think a little more deeply about what it is exactly behind the reason of being a famous novelist that appeals the most and it opens up other potential career options, as its the creativity that appeals the most, so you could look at different ways and avenues of paying creative.

Like being a professional Steemer, for example :)

Or being an artist, comic writer (both which you could do on Steemit also). You can get what it is you want, but not in the way perhaps you first envisaged.

You be saddened by the fact you can't be an astronaut, but what if you delve deeper into the whys?

It might be the sense of discovering or seeing what few people have seen that is what is appealing about it.

So being a researcher could fulfill that need, for example, as you could get that 'buzz' from being the first person to discover something really exciting.

Method 3: Who are Your Role Models

To find out what you really want, another direction we can take is to look at our role models and decide what it is about them that we admire. What parts of their life would you like to copy or have? Ask yourself, what do those things have in common and why do you like them?

Method 4: Look Back

Often we forget our dreams that we had when we were younger and sometimes those dreams hold the keys, other times have no bearing, but its worth an explore, as what you loved as a child could still some kind of appeal.

It could be you dreamed of something really ambitious and maybe not highly realistic, because the cynicism that seeps in as we grew older, had yet to rear its ugly head.

Does that thing still excite you?

If it does, then you can take the steps to see what it is that about that thing that appeals and do the 'why' exercise to pinpoint what appeals and how you could realistically achieve that.

During my life i should have asked why i was doing certain things... it could have saved me a lot of time and effort... thankfully i started doing it at the age of 22, my life changed for the better when i started...

Another thing that one should ask themselves is the "how"... Writing the why and hows is a great tool to view the bigger picture...

Just be glad that you are doing that now already. You are young and have the whole world as your opportunity.

I will be getting to the how very soon, as will start to talk about lifestyle design in next few parts.

its great one.
