How the so called “Socialism of the 21st century” killed the nation with the BiIGGEST reserves of oil in the world

in #economy7 years ago

Hi steemians im new in this community and i wanted to make a post about my country VENEZUELA, maybe you have heard a lot lately in the news, so i wanted to explain how such a rich nation ended up broke.

As of February 2, 1999, when the former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez took power, the nation's economic and social development plan was initiated, implying a process of socio-political changes and transformations. Beginning with the construction of a new inclusive structure, the aspirations of the government plans were to emphasize the social inclusion of all families, regardless of their economic status, The actions undertaken by the Chavez government were aimed at a new social, productive, humanistic and endogenous model, which aimed to make all Venezuelans live in similar conditions.

In 1999, the Venezuelan oil basket averaged US $ 16 per barrel and by 2004 had already doubled to US $ 32; Prices would continue to increase to US $ 88 per barrel in 2008 and, although they would fall in 2009 due to the international financial crisis, from 2010 they would grow again and remain between US $ 84 and US $ 103 average between 2011 and 2014, in 2015 falls down to 20 something$. In addition, Venezuela contracted debts with countries such as Russia and China.

Venezuela did not use the oil boom to save for the lean season, but to quintuple the foreign debt. That money was spent and what the government did was to eliminate its own national production capacity, Nationalizing the basic companies, in which there were invested foreign capital, such as the main national telephone company, steelmakers, the electric sector, food productors and some banking entities.
Temporarily concealed that destruction with public spending and importing everything instead of producing it and also a lot of money (I MEAN A LOT $$$$) went to the pockets of the politicians and another part went to the pockets of the people who support the government.

I Almost forgot they also give money and petroleums to anothers countries (Argentina, cuba, many caribbean islands, bolivia, brasil, just to name some of them) to supports the Chavismo.

From the implementation of these measures, Venezuelans began to suffer the loss of their jobs in private companies, with the state being the highest employer of the labor force. However, the government only gave jobs to people followers of the ruling party, while the great mass of workers who disagreed with Chavez government model were not given the opportunity to work.
Faced with this reality, the informal economy began to expand, many professionals dedicated to work as street vendors, taxi drivers or in cleaning areas. At the same time the process of migration began, thousands of citizens began to move to other countries in search of better living conditions. Meanwhile, the Chavez government insisted on emphasizing the Bolivarian revolution, signing contracts and agreements with Cuba to establish in Venezuela to socialist and communist economic model still persists.

After the death of former President Hugo Chávez Frías, Nicolás Maduro Moros assumed power in 2013, promising the people to continue the socialist productive model initiated by Chavez in 1999.

Since that date, the results of Maduro's government are not encouraging. With high inflation - increasingly uncontrolled - Bolivar's devaluation, falling oil prices, rampant Corruption, the government involved in narcotraffic, rising unemployment, coupled with high food and medicine shortages, the country faces THE WORST CRISIS IN ITS HISTORY.

On March 29-2017, the Venezuelan Supreme Court dissolved the parliament, transferring all legislative powers to itself, now they can aprroved what ever they want, MANY OF US ARE GOING TO THE STREETS TO PROTEST EVERY DAY IT'S BEEN ALMOST 4 MONTHS OF RIOTS. but its seems really difficult to Overthrow the chavismo because they got the MILITARYS by their side.
But the Venezuelan people are determined to die for its freedom.
