A week with no internet to illuminate my Earthship dreams

It is my belief that some time during this decade of change ahead (The Great Reset) the internet will be switched off for a prolonged period of time, perhaps weeks or even months. We can expect the same thing from our power supply too, but due to the specific nature of my recent experience I will be sticking mostly to internet related thoughts here. So this will be a particularly testing period for most people as we have truly come to rely on the internet for our everyday actions. One would therefore be prudent to carry out practice runs in their home to establish what is missing from their collection of physical & off-line materials which will be useful to them during such an event. With all of this in mind I did not struggle against it when by chance our internet suddenly stopped working a week ago due to some technical fault beyond our control. The week has been particularly revealing and I would like now to share my findings with you.

Before I do this however, please permit me to explain the purpose of such a deception. Needless to say, no internet for a month or two would cause global chaos. Do you know of any business which does not rely on it? Food supply chains would quickly break down and rationing will not be enough to feed the people. While the primary agenda I believe is to depopulate (in a way which appears beyond anyone's control) the more lasting reason is control itself.

As with all such manufactured events, an alibi will be used to explain the prolonged outage (likely solar storms) and the subsequent chaos will trigger an outcry before the solution is offered up on a plate and the people will not only accept it willingly, they will be begging for it. Problem/reaction/solution is of course a tried and tested system, clearly visible at the outset of all wars. Or perhaps you still think 9/11 was carried out by the Taliban?

It is hard to imagine anything other than a new type of internet being born from the ashes of the old, one which can never succumb to such blackouts in the future. But the pay-off of course will be the complete centralisation & monitoring of this new kind of internet. And yes, the people will accept it willingly.

Perhaps dear readers I over-step the mark with this prediction and it would be unfair of me not to mention that one of the reasons I believe this is due to a scene from the recent sequel to the Blade Runner movie which speaks of a time known as the Blackout in which the internet not only goes down but erases everything on it.

Indeed, during this last decade there has been a notable push to get everyone on-line, storing their entire personal & business lives on the cloud. So what would happen if all of this were to be lost? People would be pretty pissed off right? They would demand a better, safer system right? Hollywood is very much part of the control system and we are programmed during our hypnotic experience with mainstream films to accept certain things more easily when they happen. Create a Hollywood movie which gives away too much of the current agenda and life will not end well for you however. (See the story of Dark State and its young producer who was murdered alongside his entire family just prior to the release of a film which predicted 10 years ago a dystopian near-future in which civil liberties are trampled upon by an unrestrained federal government).

Even if I am off the mark here and the underlying mechanics of the internet remains unchanged in the future, I feel certain about the upcoming internet outages, mostly because I am certain about upcoming power outages and these two things obviously go hand in hand. It should also be noted that power outages will very likely happen during the winter as this will achieve maximum impact for those who seek to depopulate. Have you noticed over the last five years the push to eliminate gas boilers & wood stoves, replacing them with electrically driven heat pumps? All part of the same agenda. So if you are living in a part of the world which experiences cold winters please make sure you have a back-up heating system which doesn't rely on electricity.

With that out of the way it is my pleasure now to give you now a diary of my week with no internet.

Day 1

My first reaction was one of annoyance. I was in the middle of something important (when are we ever not?) and my inability to complete it frustrated me. Neither my phone nor Sabrina's is able to receive internet without wifi. We've had internet cuts in the past and they lasted up to 5 hours so I let it go and continued with outdoor stuff including walnut skin removal & pea trellis building. At sunset the internet box was still flashing red and the reality of my situation began to dawn on me. Not knowing the price of bitcoin, or indeed any of my investments which are currently in over-leveraged longs on Bybit kept me awake that night. No matter how much we tell ourselves it's only money, it is always hard to let it go.

Day 2

Still no joy from the internet box so we called Orange and reported the fault. They said a man would arrive to have a look tomorrow. Fine. Once this sense of acceptance had been fully digested with my daily smoothie, I no longer needed to see the price of bitcoin. And honestly, this was a great relief! I instantly felt tired like I needed to rest (having been staring at bitcoin pretty intensely for the last five years) but rather than sleep I picked up my guitar and created some music. Then I found myself sitting at the piano, tapping at the notes in a most enjoyable way. The children quickly joined me and this led to a prolonged musical moment, something along the lines of an instinctive family composition. It was the first time anything quite so wonderfully musical like this had ever happened and I noted it alongside my feeling of grateful. That night I slept better.

Day 3

I usually get up between 5 and 5.30am and have grown accustomed over the last few years to checking in with my trades & charts at this time of day, always curious to know what has changed during my sleep. Without this I felt less inclined to get out of bed but unable to sleep further, I chose to get up and just follow my nose. I remembered while dressing how I always used to put a piece of paper and a pen in Esteban's hand first thing in the morning back when we lived in Bali and he would quite often spend an entire hour drawing in silence, permitting me to complete my steemit posts ;) So I grabbed a piece of paper and sat down at the kitchen table. But what to draw? During the previous afternoon Esteban had asked me to draw an Earthship into one of his drawings, visible in the top right corner here.

image.png

Esteban & I are intimately connected in the way we think and motivate each other. For this reason I felt moved in this moment to expand further on my vision for our future home.

image.png

Initially I created this Earthship design but felt it to be too boxy and ultimately the wrong shape for optimum sunlight penetration.

image.png

Correcting the design I am playing here with a three sided front to the house and connecting greenhouse. This will definitely permit a better inflow of light throughout the day.

image.png

Having looked at a bunch of different Earthship designs I am aware they do not normally have two levels. Esteban & Luna however have never lived in a home with stairs and both made it abundantly clear to me that our future home is to have two levels! Beyond their childlike desire to run up and down stairs I am attracted to the idea simply for space purposes. This Earthship will need to hold a large quantity of supplies for our future and potentially house other families from time to time.

The tricky part about Earthships is designing them in such a way that the sunlight can hit the tyre wall at the back (the berth) in the winter, heating it up and providing the warmth one need to survive comfortably without electric heaters or even a fire-place. It is for this reason I chose to leave the ground floor & central section of the first floor open plan with the ceiling supported by large wooden pillars. I have no experience as an architect and no idea if this is even possible, but I am not interested in such details at this stage. I am dreaming and dreams have no limitations.

The walls on the first floor (which one does need to a certain extent in homes) will separate bathrooms from bedrooms and storage spaces.

image.png

The open plan area in the middle I am imagining to be a multi-functional space with a grand piano and a large mirrored wall (because dancing is important!). Perhaps our local community will meet in here and use this space for yoga or other such activities? Certainly the view will be breathtaking and the room will be filled with sunlight all day long (assuming the volcanoes of the world do not create years of darkness for us like they have done in the past during Grand Solar Minimums).

image.png

This side view offers some information about how the water system will work and gives a sense of scale for the greenhouse on the front. It will be a tropical environment in there, complete with stream & pond, permitting us to grow fruit such as mangoes & bananas (the two most desirable additions to my daily smoothie).

image.png

We can also see the ventilation system in this side view, which will be essential for those sweltering summer months when Eathships must be able to pass fresh air through from one side to the other.

Quick Law of Attraction side note here: the more specific you can be in your vision, the more specific the Universe will be in its delivery. Once you have created the world you desire in your head (you don't even need to draw it!) simply spend time living in that world. Personally I enjoy exploring my new home & associated environment just before I drift off to sleep each night. Some say this is a very effective way to manifest, so I thought I would give it a go. Will let you know what I think about that in a few years!

Spent most of the day creating these drawings and enjoyed how Esteban & Luna were with me throughout, super keen to see their future house expand before their eyes.

The internet man came at the end of the day but was unable to help at all! Says the fault is not in our home and he will get back to us. Yeah right. Heard that one before.

Day 4

Things are starting to find their new routine now. I do my reading & writing in the early hours (with baby cat on my lap) and once my family are awake I play. When it is warmer in the afternoons I play outside, usually in the garden.

image.png

Am currently reading The Secrets of Conjuring and Magic by Robert Houdin and very much enjoying it. Fiction doesn't appeal to me much any more. With this one I am reminding myself why I was so attracted to the art of magic as a child. Many thanks to @jin-out for the book recommendation. It has been almost three decades since I was last able to say this, but I am a practising magician again! Working with French coins currently, remembering how to palm them in one move. This is the ability to hold multiple coins in the palm of your hand while maintaining a normal (and empty looking) hand position at your side. A skill which requires a fair bit of practice.

Picked olives with the kids and put them into salt water, beginning the three month process before they are edible.

image.png

Made my final pesto of the year (getting too cold for basil to survive).

Dehydrated a ton of tomatoes to preserve them in oil with herbs & garlic.

image.png

Racked my 20L of white wine (after two months of fermentation).

Made a roasted walnut & maple syrup spread.

image.png

Created some more music with the kids.

Slept like a baby :)

Day 5

Still no internet, but no longer does it matter. I love my new routine!

And I think this is the lesson here. What was it Bruce Lee said? "Be formless. Shapeless. Like water".

Yes, what happens in the future is not as important as our ability to adapt to it. Like water we must adjust to the shape of our vessel.

So rather than bore you with the remainer of my experience which as I mentioned, fell quickly into a pleasant routine revolving mostly around food production & planning our future home, I will leave you now with a few notes from my experience:

  • download more informational books for off-line reading (and upload them to the @survival-archive account where others can repeat my actions)
  • upload them to the hard drive of the ipad (which is easily chargeable with solar)
  • buy more physical books (both English & French)
  • buy larger paper for more detailed drawings
  • download 3D architecture software which will permit me to build my Earthship on a computer where I can see how much sunlight hits the back wall over the course of the day at different times of year. (any ideas on this one @eco-alex?)

Final Thoughts

While this experience has been both enjoyable & revealing, let's face it, a professional person should not be in a position where they are unable to use the internet at home for such a long period (it has been over a week now). I am conscious of a push at present to get eveyone onto mobile phones (particularly the 5G network) mostly for tracking & monitoring purposes, and perhaps this internet blackout for Orange customers in the South of France is a part of this push? I heard of a man just yesterday who was unable to get on a plane from the UK to France because his phone broke at the airport and he couldn't prove his vaccination status. So be in no doubt, if you don't have a working phone (displaying correct vaccination status) you will not be permitted to do the things you once took for granted. For this and a few other reasons I have resisted the urge to buy a working sim card for the last three years. My phone never leaves the house and works only on wifi. So they will never know my movements! But this leaves me at the mercy of random internet cuts and the desire to have a fully functional smart phone grows within me...

To remedy this problem I will buy one of those USB sim card holders which creates a wifi network without the need for a phone! Thanks for the tip @opidia :)

In summary it has been noted that nothing bad happens when there is no internet. On the contrary, lots of great things happen! And if the internet cut should be long enough I might very well end up building an entire Earthship ;)

Love & Light everyone 🌱
