Bad environmental practices farmers must avoid as a means to improve on soils and guarantee a healthy soil and population.

Farmers in developing countries still carry out farming practices that greatly contributes to environmental degradation as well as causing pollution, as such requires continuous education and sensitization for further improvement and include;

• The constant use of bush fires as patterns of clearing, normally degrades the soil and destroy animal habitat, soil micro-organisms which contributes to soil fertility. In a long run, crop yields usually continue to drop leaving the soil fragile, thus exposing it to leaching, water and wind erosion.

  -Also the cultivation of same crops in the same plot or farmland for years should be equally avoided and crop diversification should be carried out. Alternatively, crop rotation practices or inter-cropping should be done. This is because some crops exhaust the soil such as tubers, maize, rice, sorghum, etc and should as a matter of fact be rotated subsequently with grain legumes.

• Equally, the misuse of chemicals such as pesticides to avoid polluting soils and water, farmers should therefore avoid disposing containers anyhow in their farms or in water or wetlands, as such the containers should be buried.
• For the extension of farms, selective felling of trees should be carried out, as such non-timber forest products should be allowed as they improve on soil fertility as well as serve as an alternative of income.
• Livestock farmers should equally avoid having livestock farms around settlement areas, and chemicals should not be used for fishing.
• Farmers must equally avoid encroaching into protected areas like reserves, as well as water catchment areas, as this will always affect greatly the quality and quantity of good drinking water. Therefore, we should continuously play our role by educating, sensitizing ourselves, communities about bad environmental practices, as this will make us get drown in them. As together, we can overcome the effects of climate change.
