Dtube Snap: My Thoughts

in #dtubesnap6 years ago

What's up Dtube,

Just wanted to give my take on all the dtube snaps going on. They can be fun and quick, enjoyable and easy for sure. But I just want to encourage everyone to keep posting the best content also and not just settle for snaps all the time because to bring in outsiders I really think we need actually be showcasing our best content also :-)

What do you guys think?

Hey there Alpha, how you doing?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us. :)

I must say I agree with your points, it is hard to improve doing snaps - even though its possible; but only in reality where you are putting shi*load of effort in that 1 minute

Majority of snappin' videos here are not like that... they are just 60 seconds straight of no-edited, not too much thought put into videos

And that's perfectly fine, if you consider it as a gateway to let you overcome fear of DTubing - what should it be in its core

But obviously, after some time - time is coming to start putting out more serious, mature content; that actually shows signs of certain level of advancement & commitment etc. rather than just continuously doing the same things over & over again.

In order to do that, obviously, one must understand to stop Snapping after some time and try making more serious content.

That's why your vlog adds a great value and I thank you for that,

Peace :D

Yeah your right, you can make a good 60 second snap but that still takes a lot of effort and most people are not willing to put that effort in. I never really thought of snaps as being the gateway to becoming a dtuber which I can see now and some other comments but as you say it shouldn't just stop there. The way I see it is we should always be trying to get better like you said. I have nothing against snaps they are cool and fun especially if its well done it can be better than a long vlog in my opinion, but like you said we dont have many of those here. Thanks a lot @enjoyinglife :) you add great value to dtube too, maybe one day I'll get do doing a plant based recipe 😂 😁

@alphasteem, In my opinion, #dtubesnap is there with specific reason but which is not limited to Specifically, by that i mean, most of the time people run away from the too long videos, so, #dtubesnap is great way to share our version in less time, inturn more Engagement with content. But you've said right, in my opinion every content holds it's own uniqueness so we should not leave the niche for sure. #dtubesnap is Revolution because in my opinion it's first most focus is encouraging Non-Video Content Creators to participate in the #dtubesnap and Dtube Economy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

Hi @chireerocks, I can see your point of dtube snap is good for non-video content creators to participate and it's something I didn't really consider because to me dtube has always been a video content creation platform, I'm glad it's bringing more people to dtube for sure but I don't see it really bringing more engagment just because people are doing more snaps and if it does bring more engagement it will only mostly be from other steemians or content creators, for dtube to grow it needs an audience, people to come and consume content and I think that well done niche videos will help grow the platform a lot more than having hundreds of snaps, but like I said they are good if you want to get a good message out quickly but I don't think it should be anyones "default." Thanks for your great comment :-)

Yes, you hold the right points. Have a great time ahead. 🙂

I'm glad you brought this up! hahhahaha

haha your too funny.

Oh my, look away for a minute. Came back and saw all these comments. This is totally something!!!

It's amazing. Look at how deep they are also!!! :-)

@alphasteem I kept seeing DTube snap everywhere-had no idea what it was, or when it started ...or who started it Lol! Maybe it’s supposed to be like short Instagram videos? It’s seems the good content issue will always be here. We live in a time of things being so fast- great content takes more effort and time, many people here just go for volume and paid posts. I haven’t done a snap yet, we’ll see ✌🏾😊

Yeah that's the idea just a short video for a quick message which is no doubt effective. And I completely agree that we live in a fast pace and short attention span time but thats also probably because 99% of people on steemit are creators and not consumers, I don't necessarily think that short videos will really help bring consumers, I just personally don't see it, not saying it's not possible, just that I dont see it. But then I don't know if steemit will ever truly have consumers lol..If a snap is well done and really good or entertaining thats different but that also takes a lot of effort to edit a 1 minute video and make it good. Thanks for your comment I hope to see your dtube vids soon!

Thanks much! I have a bunch of music stuff up, just no snaps :-)

Much success to you! :-)

I would agree. Depth is very important in growing relationships and growing the quality of your content.

Yeah that is a big one, snaps can provide depth though it just has to be done right and would definitely help grow relationships and content.

Snaps bring me level 0 to 1 (intial booster) and that make me to be consistency. Thanks alpha for the video. Snappers need to move forward.

That is good and something I didn't think about before it can be a stepping stone to becoming a content creator and I'm glad its working and bringing more people just keep advancing! You are doing well :)

Glad you talked about this topic. My videos are always over 1 minute so the snaps doesn't work with my style/ content.... maybe i just talk too much lol

Hey @travelgirl, I have watched a lot of your videos and I know, I'm similar they don't really fit with my style lol I couldn't even keep this one within 1 minute. I enjoy a lot of them especially when they are good or funny or good message but yeah it's just not really my style either.

hahah I feel the same way @travelgirl!! I've done a few snaps and they actually took even more effort/work than a regular vlog because I had to do SO many takes to get it under a minute. LOL I guess I guess I like talking too much too. ;)

I've been having the same thoughts myself. Great job bringing this point up. I would also encourage people who want to do the snaps to add more creativity into their one minute.

Yeah that would be awesome to see good creative snaps I enjoy them and sometimes even get more out of a short well done snap than a long vlog with not much going on. Just thought I would bring up the topic, I know others have been thinking the same.

Maybe we should Do snaps with stuff that is trending on youtube so People can easily cope with that.

Maybe the snap could be like the teaser for the next longer episode

Yeah your totally right, if snaps are creative then they are more enjoyable and people can relate and can even get to the point where there is an audience where people are like "I can't wait to see the next snap this person always does funny/great ones" That would be cool. I have also done that before a while back a teaser snap to my next video recipe, but then I feel like that is kind of trying to milk steem/dtube upvotes..I don't know but it is a good technique to brand your channel...I just dont know if steemit is ready for that yet lol

Yeah, if the snap is only 1 minute it doesn't mean that we don't have to put effort in it. I know some people are doing very interesting snaps, like @bobaphet and @eftnow, they even made a collaboration with a snap. I hope we will have more creative snaps. ☺

Just a little while back I just came across a comment where one Dtuber come up with this idea of DtubeSnap+

Yeah, I'm thinking to make collaborations with snaps as well. I already discussed that with our members.

Hey @clixmoney, I agree I didn't mean that there is no effort in snaps, I just know from a creators perspective a short 1 minute video just talking like the one I just did doesn't require much effort but it can get a good message out like this post has a lot of interaction now so it can be engaging. I would love to see a lot of interesting snaps, I will check out bobaphat and eftnow snaps. Thanks for the comment!

The effort can be not only in the snap itself. It can be by thinking what to say in that minute, or by making enough research the topic. That's what I meant. Sometimes to make a video I think about it a few hours. We have to care care about the value of the snap as well. If we will spend enough time thinking about the topic, the snaps will be more useful. Just like writing a post. We can also choose the best snap that we like and share it in our post with our snap. We can make it like Q-A as well. Somethnig like response to a snap. I see a lot of ideas to make it more interesting, fun and valuable. ☺
