DTube - Error while submitting to blockchain

in #dtubehelp6 years ago (edited)

I have made an update to the original posting as of 01/24/2018 and it is crunched down to just identify how I resolved it and no speculation(s).

I log in with a private posting key...

Hit the cloud upload icon and dragged a video over to begin posting...

Screenshot (4).png

Everything in the Title auto-fills and the description is from a series on #fakenews, so it's mostly copy and paste. The snap is uploaded and recognized and the video soon reaches the end of its upload and begins processing...

Screenshot (5).png

Adding Source to IPFS (IPFS) - CHECK!
Creating Sprite (Sp) - CHECK!
Adding Sprite to IPFS (Sp+IPFS) - CHECK!
Encoding to F480p (F480p) - CHECK!

Screenshot (6).png

Then when it gets to 'Adding F480p to IPFS' (F480p+IPFS)- POOF! It's time to enter in the Steemit Article Body and Tags...

Screenshot (7).png

I hit submit...

Screenshot (8).png

ERROR!! Do you notice the Tags? I used a Hash (#) on each.

Screenshot (9).png

I downloaded and used Opera along with the changes suggested;

Here's what I would type in as tags. The hashtags (#)need to go buh-bye.

So that they look like this;

Just have at least ONE (suggested by many: dtube)and after it's entered in and processed, to edit further, go to your Steemit Blog and edit it there.

Thanks for all the help in figuring this out

SUGGESTIONS FOR DTUBE:

It did show that it was acquiring a token for the upload (It should confirm this visually - just a suggestion).
The processing should NOT fade away. Keep it up! It's NOT cumbersome and it does provide finality to DTube being done with processing the videos and ready to submit to a blockchain.

I've tried every suggestion on here and uploading is still hit or miss for me. Any other suggestions?

@giuato I have had the blockchain error occur on the latest video I uploaded to #dtube, and it was remedied by putting in 4 tags. Sometimes it wants to be fed I guess. Started with one, then two, then three then four tags ah ah ah. Like the count from Sesame Street.

I'll give it a shot! I did remember specifically trying 4 tags and 1 tag, but maybe if I try every amount of tags, one of them will work, haha

Update: I have tried to use 0-5 tags and I still get an error.

@giuato Did you use all lowercase and words connected? Then you can edit in the blog. Someone also mentioned using the sidebar to select upload and if not, then relogging in

Make sure you are not using # on the tags. I removed them from mine and the upload/submission was then successful.

Hello. I try to remove # but it steel the same problem.

It is only ONE of the solutions. The error is very general and several things can cause it. Read through the other comments here and try them out until you get it to work.

There may be a few more things I have been doing as SOP for DTube; I aways make sure I have the title I want for the video as the title of the file: For example - white.mp4 is the title of the file and when I upload it DTube automatically inputs white as the title.

It might help to have the description typed on another app and then just copy it to the body. It's bizarre, but the less interaction with the DTube cloud while uploading the better.

I only input one tag, and then after snap is uploaded I hit submit and it works out okay so far.

This was the key for me,

Thanks mate!

You do know that the video has to be compressed first? We can't simply up load it like we can on YouTube. I'm using Handbreak to compress my video's.

Tags MUST be "single" words like someone suggested... and it has to have at LEAST 1 TAG or it will give you "error while submitting to blockchain"

Actually it will give you that error even with 1 tag.

I did a post and video about it. https://steemit.com/dtube/@phoneinf/dtube-is-having-big-upload-problems-error-while-submitting-to-the-blockchain

Sometimes it just stops to load the next step as well. This one is stuck and been for hours.

This is happening both in Google Chrome and Firefox browser.

it is really strange and annoying, but my error was fixed by only using 1 tag "dtube"

Nice to hear you got that working. Worked eventually for me on PC. Seems to be very random. When it works and when it doesn't. I suspect it's because the growth Steemit has seen the last couple of weeks in new users!

yours is not all lower case if you notice from the screenshot

OH; I'll try that; I thought we just used keywords (like youtube)
Thanks!

thanks for this, i tried several days and always had that error. no it works again :) kudos

Same thing happened to me and I was only using 1 tag...

So I tried everything and nothing worked until I added one tag by typing it (not copy and paste) all lowercase. Also, I noticed that the video file title I was uploading had spaces so I removed the spaces and added a dash. It finally worked!

You have to compress the video first. We can't just simply drag and drop or upload like we do n YouTube. I'm using Handbreak to compress my video's.

Actually you are wrong. You can just drag the videos actually, you don't even need to compress the video beforehand. I have tested without compression and it works, must be something wrong on your end.

Yeah, I never compress mine either. There may be a few more things I have been doing as SOP for DTube; I aways make sure I have the title I want for the video as the title of the file: For example - white.mp4 is the title of the file and when I upload it DTube automatically inputs white as the title.

I only input one tag, and then after snap is uploaded I hit submit and it works out okay so far.

Loading...

I initially put # tags in. When I removed the hashtag and just put in the single word lowercase tags, it went through successfully.

how sad me too.. Error while submitting to the blockchain
