Up Your GoPro Game with Better Sound
If you have a GoPro, you know one of the weaknesses is the sound quality. When biking and doing things where I need portability, I was looking for a good way to have better sound and maintain that portability. I think I've come up with a solution that works well for me so I thought I would share with you how to up your game with your GoPro camera. Hope you enjoy the video.
With Gratitude,
Captain Bob

nice!!! Thanks for sharing this Cap. I'm gonna get the 6 because we'll be opening our pool soon and I want to get a waterproof action cam! It's nice to know that you can hook up an external audio to it since I'm super anal about audio quality. Gonna look for these on the amazon.ca site
Yeah, it works pretty well. It's pretty sensitive to background noise and bit high in treble to me, but most of these can be adjusted fairly easily in post audio editing.
I think that the mic add on sounded great. You're a shrewd fellow. I am a horrible salesman.
Thanks, I think it sounded decent as well. It's pretty sensitive, so a bit more background noise and to me a bit high on treble, but I can EQ that out a bit in post. I'm honestly not that great of salesperson either, but I do well with the relationship aspect of it usually and I'm persistent, so they give in eventually :)
And what do you think about SJCam camera sound? Which camera did you use when showed us your GoPro microphone accessory?
I've never used the SJ Cam so I really can't comment on it's sound. My main camera is usually the Panasonic Lumix GH5 with a Rode Video Mic Pro + and the GoPro Hero 6 I use for more portable things like biking, boating, etc.
Thanks for your answer! Now I am looking for new action camera and try to choose best one.
I will say that for all the negative press the Hero 6 has received, I've been pretty impressed myself. It seems the firmware the released fixed a lot of issues, and the image stabilization has seriously just blown me away at how well it does. It's by no means perfect, but I'm overall happy with the purchase.
Thank you, I'll keep it in my mind!
Oh man brother, you are just the man when it comes to business talks and just TALKS in general...You have to record your voice how you just read anything really and I can fall asleep like a baby!
Thank you for the advice on gopro, but I don't personally use it yet.
Winny out...for now ;)
"Sleep little Winny don't say a word...Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird..."
this is the exact issue i am trying to resolve now. i went with a larger bracing cage that i found. it works... but damn....your solution is way more compact. thanks for the tips! hope you worked that sales deal!
Let me know if I can help in any way man. Happy to share all the info I can and yeah...done deal :)
Awesome setup man! If they had a flip out screen or even a little attachment screen. I'd only use my Gopro.
Hahaha! Yeah, maybe that's the next thing I need to find! Part of the fun.
Looking dapper in the suit!!! I love the DIY fix!!
Just a sport jacket, not the whole suit but thank you!
Is this mic only for go pros? I need to get a mic too. But don't know where to start.
Depends on your camera, but if you have a mic input on your camera, this will work although there might be better options. You might consider something like the Rode VideoMicro. http://www.rode.com/microphones/videomicro
Really any of the mics from Rode are really great if your camera has a mic input.
Ive always wanted to get a gopro! Would be awesome for fitness and sporty stuff. I dont think I would use the audio so much. Do you use it as your going out camera?
Really depends on the scenario, but I have a Lumix GH5 I take sometimes, but at times, you just want to grab something light and throw it in a pack, on the bike, on the boat or something, and you want light weight, but you still need decent sound you know. I don't want to have to switch cameras every time I need sound.
The sound is MUCH better. Normally GoPro sounds like you're in a fish tank.
