RE: Which Ones Of These Steemy Ads Do You Want To See Go Viral? 💙 You Can Now Vote For Your Favorite "60 Seconds of Steem"!

in #dtube6 years ago

Hello @surfermarly,

First of all I would heavily appreciate your awesome initiative for promoting STEEM to the world. It's really an enormous contest which is comin up with productive outputs.

But The Question I wanna ask you is that

  • WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND THE WAY TO SELECT THE WINNER ?

I'm asking this because I have a ton of thoughts are are wandering upon me and are clashing with each other. So I thought I better ask the Organizer of the contest ( @surfermarly )

So The thing is,

You have said that the

  • The Voting will be done by the COMMUNITY
That's perfectly fine :)
  • The Sponsors Promised Bigger UPVOTES To The Winning Artists.

But This doesn't looks a perfect one :(
sponser.PNG

You said they will Upvote the 5 best Ads, But you didn't said @oracle-d would select the best ones :(

spon 1.PNGspon 2.PNGspon 3.PNGspon 4.PNG

I would love to hear the reason behind it :) @oracle-d

Moving on...

  • You (@surfermarly) you're the ORGANIZER, How come you voted certain entries ?

MY TRUE OPINION -

I THINK THAT THE WINNERS HAVE BEEN ALREADY SELECTED AND THE PEOPLE HAVING ENORMOUS STAKE ARE MANIPULATING IT AND CHOOSING THE WINNERS WHO THEY WANT TO SEE WIN, AS WELL AS I THINK THAT THE ORGANIZERS AND SPONSORS SHOULD BE NEUTRAL IN SUCH CONTESTS, BUT IN THIS CASE IT DOESN'T SEEM SO

MY TRUE SUGGESTION -

IF YOU STILL WANT TO MAKE THIS VOTING FAIR, KINDLY WITHDRAW SUCH HIGH VOTES AND LET THE STEEM COMMUNITY HAVE A SAY WITH THEIR STAKES BECAUSE LITERALLY PEOPLE CAN'T COMPETE WITH SUCH HIGH STAKES LIKE @oracle-d HAS AND ORGANIZER SHOULD ALSO REMAIN NEUTRAL IF THIS IS TO BE MADE FAIR

All the fellow Participants Have A Read :)

Hey there! I couldn’t agree more! Remember the slogan “steem is for the community” and basically what is it now? It is far from any community any democracy or anything alike equal rights! Well, welcome to the world
We live in.. the biggest stakeholders take the run, its like with everything in our world... the richest takes the vote, the most influential political will always win, the democracy does not exist! Its always about the monopoly , and in the end.. the contest.. the vote has already been decided (as the biggest account could upvote and 1 vote would change the whole thing) (EDITED and added this explanation). What with the community, what with the the solidarity? Apparently what the community thinks does not matter...

i hear that. i used to love posting. but for what? couple cents that tomorrow will be 10ths of cents?

i may make nothing posting on facebook, but at least i get people that like the shit i post, and engage.

barely any of that on here. just a circle jerk imho.

Hi @travellit! First of all I'm happy to see your video raking first currently since I really liked it a lot :-)

Second, the voting procedure had been announced three weeks ago and so far nobody had been disagreeing with it. Why now?

Currently the algorithm on Steem consideres a stake weighted voting, the ecosystem is based on DPOS ever since. Of course such a system has PROs and CONs. An important factor is that it encourages people to invest in Steem and like that gain more influence within the community. From a business standpoint that's a pretty important point.

On the other hand I agree with you that for someone who doesn't have the financial possibilities it's tough to be heard.

Yet, so far no better algorithm has been proposed or at least not been considered worth its implementation. Ned has been proposing a one account / one vote mechanism for SMTs / Oracles, but we don't know if those will be implemented in the near future. Pennsif's State of Steem Forum on PAL tomorrow evening may bring some new information on the development process.

Again, it's sad that nobody had been coming up with all that right from the start and now two days before passing the finish line you're criticizing the whole process at if it was a whole scam.

All I can say is I've been doing my best to make this a fair contest - and to date I really thought people were appreciating that.

Have a good day and all the best for your entry ;-)

I’m just sharing my opinion with @true-opinion and understanding him/her. No one usually shares their opinion so great he has done it and he’s not scared to do it! :) It’s not a criticism towards anyone or anything, just wanted to share how we felt about it as well, also when we realised and understood what “stake weighted means”. I guess we haven’t been participating in that many contests to know it so well. And then people asked when we invited to vote “what’s the point of me to vote i have only 0,001 cents? I cant make a difference and my voice does not count”. Happened just recently and made us think that it goes a bit contrary to the slogan. You’ve explained it very well and so i can pass it further to the people who asked the question! :) And you’ve done a great job putting all of this together to promote steem! I guess this just opens a possibility to make any future contest better.

Hi travellit! I understand your point, but a world where everybody is equally provided with wealth will never exist - neither on Steem nor somewhere else.

Yet, what we do have on Steem - and I disagree with your point here - is equality of opportunity.

It goes a bit contrary to the slogan your voice is worth something

For a start, that’s the slogan for steemit.com and not Steem.

Having a voice doesn’t mean being provided by an infinite amount of tokens not doing anything at all. Having a voice primarily means being part of a community where one can reach out to others and team up. Having a voice means having access to a huge audience.

My vote is 7 Cents. Probably nobody would’ve cared about an upvote from me as reward for the winners of the contest. So I reached out to some larger stakeholders and asked them for their support. Now we have a massive prize pool because people decided to bundle forces.

Everybody can do that. It doesn’t matter how large your stake, literally everybody has a say here. As in life so on the blockchain: if you want something, then you need to go for it.

@starkerz said something very valuable in that context once:

Steem is a mechanism that rewards voluntary action.

The secret lies in voluntary action here.

Again, thanks for your participation and for bringing this up. I know it’s an explosive topic, but people need to learn that few things in life come for free - and that also applies for success on Steem.

Have a great day! :-)

the votes are based on per vote and not based on the stake .. just fyi edited ... thanks @surfermarly for clearing it up and i thought it was vote base.

Hey @bitrocker2020, votes are stake weighted and it's been announced since the very beginning :-) Glad your video has received a lot of support!

You got a 7.14% upvote from @brupvoter courtesy of @true-opinion!

This post has received a 5.94 % upvote from @boomerang.

Thanks for mention :)

Hi @true-opinion! Happy to meet you :-)
First of all thanks for your appreciation, I'm glad you like the contest.

Second, you're mixing up a couple of things here. Let me clarify that:

The voting on the entries is stake weighted just as it has been announced from the very beginning (3 weeks ago):

The voting will be stake-weighted and end after 7 days on the 15th of February. - Source

I haven't received any complaints in that context so far, so there is no reason to change the rules of the game now that we're almost passing the finish line. During three weeks everybody seemed to be cool with the procedure.

@Oracle-D is one of the generous sponsors who make this contest possible. They have promised to upvote the winners of the contest, and that's what they're going to do. Since the contest is running two weeks and payouts for posts end after 7 days according to the Steem algorithm, we've agreed on encouraging the winners to set up a celebration post after the award ceremony, and then the sponsors can allocate the promised votes accordingly.

Besides being a generous sponsor, @oracle-d is also a stakeholder of Steem, just like all of us. So there is no reason why they should be excluded from the voting. At no point in time there were any restrictions communicated, everybody is free to vote for the entries they like.

The only thing I'm worried about is that not many other larger stakeholders have placed more votes during the contest so far, but believe me I'm doing my best to encourage them all to participate.

I appreciate your suggestions, but you're asking me to exclude larger stakeholders from the voting just because they have a large stake - and that to me doesn't make sense at all.

This is a DPOS world. One account / one vote is something that may be considered with SMTs and Oracles in the future (see SMT whitepaper), but currently voting on Steem is stake weighted and so it has been announced for this contest three weeks ago.

Again, thanks for your feedback & have a nice day! :-)
