Watch Dtube Should Be Used For Original Content video on DTube

If you have a video that you didn't create, then you probably shouldn't upload it to DTube.
Assuming your intentions are pure, and you only want to "share" a video you've seen,
that is why Steemit has a YouTube link function.

But what if YouTube won't allow a certain video?
That's where DTube comes in.
If for whatever reason YouTube is not allowing your video to be posted,
thanks to DTube you now have a decentralized platform that you can use to post and share it.
And possibly make some money by doing so.

But if you didn't create the video that YouTube won't post,
or if you don't have permission of the creator or owner of the video,
then why should you enrich yourself by the labors of another?
That may be called by some as "stealing."

I'm not saying 100% of what you post to DTube has to be original.
You can used others material if you somehow contribute to its presentation.
A review, a commentary, some satire, something of your own creative spark must be added to the product.

You are not providing a service by uploading a Hollywood feature film.
Anyone with a minimum of internet knowledge has the ability to find whatever movie they want to watch already.

Anyway, in the above video I share some of these thoughts as I take my morning walk.
I hope this is helpful in some small way to the whole steemit community.

Well, creators of Dtube must find way to disable uploading videos that are not yours. Not sure is that possible yet. If monetization goes automatically they must resolve that, not users.

Perhaps a consensus that users will down vote obviously copyrighted material that is posted with the intent of profiting from an others work.
(It would have to be obvious.)

I was thinking that, too. Something like that could also be abused (used to kill off content you just dont like). I suspect someone smarter than me could come up with an algorithm, maybe with machine learning?, to help mitigate risk of abuse.

At the very least members should not upvote unauthorized copy written material.

I think it might be possible to delete the video file, but I'm not sure about the reference to it - which is on the blockchain.

Is the video file only on one computer? Or is it distributed across a network?

???? how do i delete a video from Dtube???

The record of the video will remain in the blockchain, as will the addition of a DELETED action.

Since this platform is decentralized, is it even possible for content owners to take action against individuals posting content without permission? (copyright is not my forte)

I am no lawyer either, but as IPFS is decentralized, as well as STEEM (the database holding the links to the IPFS contents), in the end the person responsible for the act of piracy will be the user who posted it on the blockchain, with his STEEM account.

Just my 2 cents,

If the individual account is held responsible that would be good.
I truly appreciate this platform you've built and desire to see it thrive.
Thank you!

Makes sense, and your two cents are worth a million :).

I don't know how they will be able to take action.
It may be up to those users who don't want to lose this platform to police ourselves.

How do you delete videos I don't see any button? Aside from that If a video from Youtube is chosen to be Creative Commons. I think legally from my research you can upload it to any social network no worries. Also there are different kind or search engine sites you can find lots of Creative Commons (Specifically for CC ) work that is good quality and you can reference it here. Also if you do voice over commentary similar to cinema sins on youtube it's considered a new work. TBH thats what this platform structure needs show formats like that one. I have only been here like a week but it's a lot of random videos with questionable content. And the rest is ripped videos from everywhere on the net. I think the most they can do is shut your channel down at least in the TOS they claim to be able to. I can see the allure to wanting to post 275k songs and movies and good yt content to dtube as well as audiobooks and the such. Mainly from the last 40 years there is no 1 central company to send DCMA takedown notice to and no one to censor your videos like youtube has been notorious for lately. It's honestly pretty hard to fight the urge especially if you don't care if you make money or not. So I can see why there is so much copyrighted material up especially if you live in a country where bootlegging is pretty much a way of life.
