Is DTube the "Killer App" for the STEEM Blockchain?
If you checked the Trending page today than you're probably aware of the Introducing DTube post from @heimindanger which is a YouTube clone using the STEEM blockchain as Database.
When I read the post yesterday I tried out the site immediately, it worked like a charm without any problems! You basically login using your existing Steemit username and Private Posting Key and that's it. After that the steps are very straight forward
- Drag a video clip into the browser.
- Select a clip thumbnail.
- Write a Title and Text
- Submit the post
Once you submitted the post it will show up in your "Blog" Feed on Steemit.com and you see also the current post rewards on Steemit.com.
I don't think it needs a big imagination to realise that this app could lead to many new users (Youtuber's) joining Steemit.com, Busy.org or ChainBB.com now and get rewards for their Videos.
The sky is the limit!

@heimindanger did an absolutely great job for STEEM community and I hope he get's well rewarded for his efforts!
This is actually the beauty of this community. To my knowledge we don't have worker proposals on Steemit like e.g. on Bitshares or Dash, but still our community is full of talented developers who create great apps without initial funding.
If there would be a funding for developers outside of the post rewards, than I think we would see even more development for STEEM blockchain related apps.
Improvement ideas
I personally would love if new users who don't have a STEEM account yet can create one on DTube itself. It might be difficult for very new users to understand that they need to go to another site (Steemit.com) to create an account.
A personal feed and playlists would be a great addition in the future. This is something what I use frequently on YouTube when learning new stuff so it would be great to see something similar on DTube as well.
Overall I I am very excited about this app and think it has great potential to attract many new users!
It is certainly a a great addition to the fantastic apps we have already for the STEEM blockchain.

I wonder how this compares to https://view.ly ? Another tool built for a similar purpose I think.
