Down by the lake for testing

in #dtube7 years ago

I am trying to get used to taking video on my camera but I am not doing such a great job, I think i need a stabiliser. I have never really done much videoing before but I have some things I would like to attempt with it but need a lot of practice.

This is from the lake near by where I live and it is possible to walk on already around the edges but, I am not so game to take my camera swimming so didn't venture out. After the next cold snap, it should be enough.

I also took a few photos and in editing added a little warmth to the focal points. Meh, not a big fan but it is worth playing around with different styles and settings at times to see what comes up. Too often we get stuck in our habits and end up not venturing too far from our metaphorical (and often literal) homes.

Lately, I have been thinking about ways I can push myself in slightly different directions and build upon some skills. Even the failures hold lessons and can be used to plan the next moves.

Anyone trying to improve a skill and willing to offer up their methodology? Learning is also somewhere we often do on habit even if our results are not what we want them to be. Listening to others ideas can help open new pathways of improvement that were not considered before.

Anyway, failure or not, it is fun to play around with the camera. It seems all too rare these days.

The snow look like they do on cartoons. 😂 weird right. I still watch cartoons.
Trying new skills is a sign that life is still an experience and you are still learning. It is said that the moment we stop learning, we start dying.
I wish I had a skill to teach you but you write better than I can teach. 😂 besides I too, am aiming at learning new skills too. I am aiming for Gifs and memes for starters. When I have enough money, I am getting a camera so I can take pictures and edit. Maybe I will be a photographer yet.
Your place is beautiful in winter too. We just have dust and heat; fat flies too. But it gets chilly at night and you can watch the dew creep into town on silent feet as the sun turns red and falls into the dusky night. Gosh! I need a camera.
Beautiful pictures @tarazkp

I like the way you phrase some things.

🙈poetry. I forget myself sometimes

For habit building and improvement I like goals+micro-goals. I'm doing it for weightlifting at the moment because it's good to plan how much weight should I add to specific exercises. And of course, I have a clear picture of the gradual improvement.

For example in your case, you would like to improve in the field of photography. You could start a spreadsheet with a goal of 5k photos this year. Then you split it up. 5000/365= ~14 pics per day on average. Of course, this number is just an example, you could alter it based on your time, goals, etc. 10k-50k while you learn different tricks from forums and also sharing your pics for feedbacks. I'm sure after a year, you will have lots of breathtaking shots. It's inevitable.

Btw, the pics look good to me but unfortunately I can't give anything constructive since I'm an absolute noob at photography. :D

Lol.. To think you've been having issues making a video with your camera sounds funny to me. Well I agree with you though we should push ourselves into different directions and learn some new skills. No knowledge or skill is a waste. Lovely Pictures Sir. Looking out for your first video though😊....

The video was still pretty cool! Yeah, maybe a stabilizer of some kind would help. Taking videos usually seems even more difficult than pictures sometimes. I love the frost on the last photo you took too!

WHOA! What an amazingly beautiful place! I'm jealous!

Snow makes everything look so good! Though I think the photos could be less blurry, they are still pretty cool :)

The lake you live next to is a big lake and there could be rifts in the middle. You are wise not to go to the middle, yet.

Yeah, I am not like one of those crazy fisherman in the Spring.

You can use YouTube for stabilizing the video. Works just fine. Check out some of my videos from December.

Will check it out, ty.

Cool pictures, @tarazkp (pun intended :D!) I usually look around, think about what I would like to get better at and try spending some time practising it. I can't really keep up if I choose a lot of things, and often lose motivation in continuing, so I guess it's better to just pick a few, and focus on those. Also, if you start to learn many different things I guess it goes better if you try to do them all progressively.

I have a bad habit of trying too many at the same time and end up getting nowhere. :)

This is Finland? real good video,I follow YOU with my SP (power).thanks
