DTube: The UDEMY Killer? Steem Opps for Edupreneurs
In this video, we explore how the STEEM blockchain and applications like @dtube could kill online course websites like Udemy...
Think about it - what a great opportunity for edupreneurs and course creators to put their online courses onto a platform like STEEM and for viewers or course participants to "pay" with their upvotes (so no need for people to put their hands in their pockets to learn).
What a great opportunity to provide education for the world at little or no cost!
This could be a part of dtube / Steemit or a separate application (linked to the STEEM blockchain) in its own right. In this video, we have some fun thinking of potential names such as STEEM/DLearn, STEEM/DCourses etc. You get the picture though, right?
Then (inspired by a @taskmaster4450 post - link below) it makes you think about how the whole media and entertainment industry could be disrupted by the STEEM blockchain - think DCast for podcasts, STEEMinar for webinars, DMusic etc.
The sheer potential of the STEEM blockchain is just starting to be released (and we haven't even touched on SMTs...).

I have courses on Udemy, my own site and elsewhere. I don't think DTube will disrupt at the present moment.
Most courses take quite a while before it gets traction. Courses can be sold for a long time, sometimes several years, and by refreshing content. A 1 week payout is just too short.
The student experience is better on purpose built sites.
I agree, we're not there yet but I think it's an intriguing thought to have a section of @dtube or a new app linked to the STEEM blockchain that is specifically designed for online courses. Participants can "pay" with upvotes (maybe there is a min cost of entry in STEEM - no fees :)) and the course host can reward useful comments and input with votes too. I think/hope it's a matter of time.
