Forgotten Scream - Sacrifice ( And A Little Story About My Drumming Journey )
Hey dear Steemians !
I'd like to present you my other band which i have been involved with about a year or so . It is some heavy stuff and i happen to play drums in here ! I have always been interested in playing the drums , even when i was hard core guitar player :D I remember playing ''air'' drums ever since i was a little kid . Eventually i took my air drumming to a next level :D Although i did not have a drum kit since about two years ago , i worked on my drumming skills by carefully learning beats and separating my brain functions for each hand and leg and by pounding the sticks against whatever ... be it pillows , my legs ( it doesn't really hurt that much :D ) or whatever i could get my hands on that provided at least somewhat similiar feel and did not make a lot of noise .
Drums are very ''physical'' instrument in a way . By that i mean that in order to play high speed, intense metal music you really need to be in a good shape . I remember one time when we were playing in Novi Sad ( a second largest city in Serbia ) , i wasn't prepared that well for the show since i haven't touched a drum kit for two weeks straight . After two songs i was crushed :D Getting adrenaline rush at the beginning of the show didn't help either since chances are that you will be pounding the drums like crazy and tire yourself out a lot easier than usually . I menaged to pull it off just barely and i was absolutely exhausted . That night i've learned not to take drumming for granted and to always prepare myself well before every show .
Even to this day , i practice drumming without actually sitting behind a drum kit . All the drummers face a tough problem of not having a proper space where they can bash the hell out of drums . I have had some arguments with my neighbours and even my family doesn't enjoy it . Let's face it - they are pretty damn loud . But the good news is that you can achieve some incredible results just by practicing hitting on anything . Although it is not THE feel of the instrument , still you'll have a very good idea of how to position your wrists and how to achieve a lot of force in your hit without moving your whole arm and instead use small movements of the wrist , but directed towards a particular spot on the drum thus getting a big sound .
This particular gig which is in the video was in my home town of Zrenjanin . It was about 6 months ago , and for that gig i was prepared much better . I feel like i am miles ahead nowadays in terms of my drumming skills but still it served the song and i hope you'll find this performance and the song enjoyable .
Thanks for reading , watching and listening ! :)
