Surfboard Art Concept - Gold Coast, Australia

This is a sped up video of my Kraken surfboard art initial ideas. I recorded my drawing in 'time-lapse' mode on my phone, and these are the initial & developed ideas of my designs.

Thumbnail Sketches

I started with a thumbnail stage where I quickly sketched out a number of idea in thumbnail size, and onto the shape of a surfboard to give me an idea of the look & feel of the design I want to go with. This step enables you to get lots of ideas down rapidly, without being too precious about making correct marks, which should be saved for the final design.

I think I'm going to choose the 3rd drawing on the right as the final design, which I will draw onto my friend Marco's surfboard using inks and ink brush pens. I may develop this one design a little further, making minor trweaks before going to the surfboard, but I might just go direct onto it with what i've already got.

Filming The Surfboard Art Drawing Process
