Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 9:8-11
We are reading about a new covenant today. Twice we see the word "Beriti" which means My covenant and the Creator is the one speaking. He is talking to Noah, his sons, and all the living creatures that took shelter in the ark.
This is a promise not to never destroy all living things again, at least by flood.

This post and verses of the scripture reminds me of the rainbow incident that took place three weeks ago. Prior to the rainbow, we had 2 days of intensive rainfall which caused floods that destroyed houses and sadly, a life was lost through electrocution. That Monday evening got me smiling the moment I came out to picture the rainbow. I could vividly remember God's promise in Genesis 9: 8-11 and it spiced so much joy in my heart. The sky went dry for days after the rainbow.
God is a true to keeping His covenant to His people.
Yes the rainbow is in the next verse. Next Friday for sure.
The rainbow appearing now tells us that it had never rained before. If it had rained prior to this chapter there would have been a rainbow. I am of the belief that the sun had never shown before the ark landed and that the climate had changed world wide from this point on, causing faster aging and shorter life spans.
