STEEM Question Leasing Delegated SP Yay! or Nay! Why or Why Not?

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

Are you leasing delegated SP from others on the STEEM Blockchain? Or are you delegating your SP to others? Maybe you do a combination of both. What is your strategy for any way you handle your SP?

My goal is to have more SP and a bigger vote to help those I vote for. Additionally, more SP gives me better curation rewards.

I am so thankful to @nathanmars for his delegation freely given and his faith in me. I am equally grateful to those who lease to me with @minnowbooster.

Most of those people are not active here, so my lease income pays them a good return on their delegation when they would not use it anyway. Most are making 14-15% APR with my lease. This is not possible with money out in the real world right now where interest on your fiat is probably less than 1%.

But I am interested to know what you are doing and why. STEEM is a complicated place, and I might be missing some key points I need to know. I want to succeed here and SP size is a big part of that.

In case you do not understand leasing delegated SP at all, here is an old post I did on the subject for your information and understanding. I have been leasing since August 2017, and do not think I will stop any time soon.

Thank you so much for your attention to my video today. I am a proud member of the dtubefamily777 and trying to post a video to @dtube each day. The challenges are many, but I feel like I am getting a lot out of this effort, and will persevere.

NOTE: I am filming with my laptop and the microphone it came with. Any ideas on how to improve my sound will be gratefully received.

It is that time of year when the fitness equipment is out and the diet books are being read. I lost "Half My Size" eight years ago by using natural methods, and you can too!

This is Sharon @fitinfun. I am posting:

I think for me

  1. It gives me joy that when I upvote someone I can imagine myself been them, and see a smile on their face because the upvote is worth something.
  2. It helps me grow faster, because I earn more curation from upvoting people.
  3. I am able to upvote more people with a bigger SP without affecting my Voting Power.
  4. It helps your reputation grow fast too because you also receive more upvote when you're upvoting others. It is a win win situation.
  5. You make more friends with a bigger SP if you're active. You imagine why everyone on Steem wants to be friends with a Whale. Lol.
  6. You are able to encourage your followers who comment on your post. I try as much as I can to upvote at least a minimum of $0.01 and above for all comments on my post from members not bots. I know I have upvoted as high as $0.45 steem when I leased up to 10,000+SP for a promo I was running last year. This helped a lot of them continue with steem and the were able to post and upvote.

All great reasons and wow on the 10000 delegation. How did that come about. That would cost a lot!

"I try as much as I can to upvote at least a minimum of $0.01 and above for all comments"
You have to vote at 3 cents oncomments fo the most part or it goes to "dust." No reward for anyone . This is an old post by @thedarkhorse explaining this:
Your 2 Cent Vote is Worthless, The Real Deal on Dust Votes

I think it might be out of date and he might pop in to let us know.

"You have to vote at 3 cents oncomments fo the most part or it goes to "dust." " I think that is where steemians need to use the services of @dustsweeper. It ensures you don't lose anything. It will upvote your $0.01 comments to $0.03 before payout.

I have heard of that but I have never used it. Do you have good information on it? I stopped voting comments at all on my accounts. With a vote of 4 cents at 100% - I cannot manage it.

Hi @fitinfun, @dustsweeper are great, I just send $0.50 or 1 steem to them and they keep upvoting upvotes I got that will turn dust before payout. From my understanding of how it works you don't actually make profit on it. But you don't make a loss either. The gain is just for you to get value for all the upvotes that would have been considered dust and lost. They send you your balance as they do it and they let you know when you money is running out so that you can send some Steem or SBD. So if you had a dust upvote that would have totaled say $0.40 in a month, with @dustsweeper services you would receive them because they'll be upvoting the fractions to reach payout value. Hope this helps.

Hmm - got to wrap my mind around this one. I will look though others use it too, so it must make sense lol. Thank you so much for the info.

I'm so glad we met!

Hi @fitinfun, I got a reply from @scrooger as regards a question I asked about @feedyourminnows. He runs the project @qurator, @feedyourminnows and @make-a-whale. Since you're already on the first 2 I felt you might be interested in @make-a-whale. I plan to join it and delegate 150 SP as soon as I can.

Thank you so much @ketcom! You are awesome. On the list!!!!!

Well, I delegate some of my SPs however for projects that I like, and for people that need it, like the newcomers that have troubles with Resource Credits. However, I think that you delegate for steem or sbd is a normal thing that could give you a nice return.

But then you have low power yourself??? Are you getting a return or votes or anything for this?

I see you are using dustsweeper. I don't know too much about it, but someone else has recommended it.

Not so much. I delegate 25SP for people who needs and the some projects I receive some votes.

Oh, I get that! I was gifted a 1,000 sp a while back and it changed my life! It made me actually have a vote.

I wish you luck on growing! (well, I need that same luck too!)

Wow! Good one. Lucky you. It does not take much to make a difference here. Thank you so much for your vote, comment and tip. You are awesome, @dswigle.

You know it is always a pleasure for me!

🎁 Hi @fitinfun! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

@dswigle wrote lately about: First Beautiful Sunday, Sublimely So! 2019 Feel free to follow @dswigle if you like it :)

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

If you delegate to @ArtTurtle it's an ethical way to make your money work for you and pay you back for your own creative works.

Thank you for that tip. I will look into that one for sure.

Hey Sharon thank you for the well done video. I know I delegate to a few projects I truly beleive in i.e @thealliance, @Dstors, and @heyHaveyamet.

As far as peeps who have 5K Sp and delegate 4,500 of it out...well that stumps me as well. I guess it could be temporary like Nathan has done for us. Also I know when I delegate to @thealliance and @dstors I receive Upvotes and Bot votes back . So that kind of makes up for the loss SP through Delegating

hmm - I will need to look into this. @thealliance and @dstors are projects I have seen, but know nothing about.

Thank you for the tips!

When I joined in, I got a delegation of about 15SP which for sure kept me walking in my early days. So from then, I learnt and did some delegation until yesterday when it expired. It gave a point to earn on curation.

You have to keep getting them - at least up until 500 sp
