Getting Deep With a Young Homeless Man

While filming my documentary last fall about the Native American homeless camp in Minneapolis, I met this young man named Gauge. Of the many interviews I did at this camp, none got so deep, so quick.

"What is a home?" Gauge wondered out loud. His difficult life has featured foster homes and much homelessness. From the topic of homes, we talked about how he might address his difficulties trusting people. Thankfully, he said he knows some mentors for when he is ready to open up to them.

I publish this video while continuing to work diligently on my documentary about this homeless camp. Tentative date of premiere: Sunday, May 19. Stay tuned.
