Vlog 408: A different way to look at Steempower.

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

When the Steem price goes up the payouts of your blog will go up with it.

Let's say a $1 post under today's price of $0,35 will be a $10 post when STEEM is $3,50.

But what you must realize is that the amount of STEEM you receive for the post will be the same.

This concept is key for everyone that is building on Steem today and it's crucial that you understand it.

Having STEEMPOWER gives you the power to say where some of the new STEEM (from the reward pool) should go.

It's extremely powerful and I know everyone has a different opinion on how the holders of Steempower should handle that power.

But this is how I see it: Steempower is the motor to propel whatever you want to do on the blockchain.

If you are a content creator you can use it to propel your content.

If you are a business you can use it to propel your business.

If you are an investor you can lend it to businesses for ROI.

Everyone is here for different reasons but if you see your account as a business then the following makes sense:

A goal to have is to earn more dollars by using your STEEMPOWER in such a way that propels your business than what you can earn by upvoting yourself 10x a day.

And with earnings, I don't necessarily mean STEEM. It can be US dollars if you sell products and like to reward buyers with STEEM.

It can basically be anything.

This idea opens up a whole world of possibilities in the social-economic system that is Steem and it's only possible under a linear reward curve.

Combine that with a STEEM price that goes up and the possibilities are mindblowing.

For the people that see this future, it, therefore, must make 100% sense to build on Steem today.

I talk about it more in my vlog.

Hello, i am searching for drama comments

Here's your DRAMA. Don't spend it all in one place!

To view or trade DRAMA go to steem-engine.com.

Steem Power is well named because that's what it gives bloggers, investors and businesses.

the amount of STEEM distributed by your upvotes is the same.

This! I made a post a couple of months ago explaining the same thing for the italian community...it also seems difficult for some people to get that is much more likely to receive a 100% upvote from an orca/whale today than when the price is high, yet people leave because the dollar valuation of their payouts ‘is not worth the effort’, then blame the system when the STEEM price is high and orcas don’t vote 100% anymore 🤔🤔🤔

Builders today are winners tomorrow.

I know that is not the point of your video but do you think it is fine to upvote yourself 10x times a day if you are below your base earning?

Also how much kg meat you are gonna grill today? :-)

In all my years on Steem, it has never occurred to me to tell anyone what they should or should not do with their Steempower.

If upvoting themselves 10 times a day is the reason someone is here then that's fine for me. They can also choose to put it in a curating bot like @ocd which is almost the same thing.

I personally like to see people use their steempower to propel their reason for being here and grow their account and build a home on Steem. Whatever it may be. And a lot of people are doing that.

I know Steem is different for everyone. Therefore some behavior will be frowned upon by some while for others the same behavior makes perfect sense.

That's what you get when you have a blockchain with real people and hundreds of different opinions.

You will have good actors, bad actors and anything in between. This is life.

All in all, what has been build on Steem in the last 3 years is, in my opinion, extremely impressive.

I believe everyone that has built on Steem and helped make this place grow will benefit from all the work.

I'm hoping to grill some nice Steaks today if I get the chance.

Well while I agree we should do what we want here it is also a social construct with unspoken rules. I remember cats so crumpy they gave out harsh downvotes. But I guess that is also what you referring to. Where one player does not agree that xyz is fine and acting against it.

I know we have different view points about bots.

And somehow I agree it is maybe even better people who upvote themselves 10x a day they are here holding SP then not being here at all...

Enjoy the Steaks...maybe :-)

That’s how people need to look at steem power! Great break down for all the new STEEMIANS 😎

The power of the protocol is that the same fuel does the same for everyone and the fact that we can do so much with it is what makes it so powerful and value creating!

I'm fully with you on the 10x self-upvote reference number. Especially when growing a bit bigger in Steem Power it becomes more difficult to reach this number when having 1 daily post.

Looking at things from the 10x self upvote angle I was also quite disappointed in most 'support groups' that provide daily upvotes. (SBI, Curator, ...) So I created my own model and started an initiative about a year ago called @upvoteshares finding a way to give active bloggers very good returns in upvotes (around x24 times self-upvote now and growing for existing shareholders) while it also allows sponsorships to minnows helping the platform forward.

You might find the concept I came up with interesting seeing how we think alike when it comes down to Steem. I completely broke it down in this post I made a couple months ago. Would love to hear your opinion if you find some time.

Just curious if you count curation in the profit that you are trying to make? That wouldn't really be considered self voting would it. Plus you have a big enough account that you probably pull in some pretty decent curation rewards.

No, not consciously. It does add but doesn't have my focus. When I upvote comments I just do it without thinking about curation.

Binance Founder Changpeng Zhao“CZ” said last year

We will continue to build and increase adoption, and lead the industry forward

Let's keep building on Our Steem and be like BNB soon and STEEM has true potential to increase adoption and lead the industry forward

We need to create more and more STEEM believers and more Builders and less beggars

Nathan, so many builders are still here and working hard. Steem will succeed!

Let's keep on Building Mark

The basic reason I'm building my SP is for the not too far future where I will sit at home and earn a living just by engaging on STEEM with all the different tokens I will earn daily.

That's my plan to exit the rat race but until then I have to keep building.
