My 2019 Steem Resolutions

in #dtube6 years ago

Hi Friends!

Although I'm not huge on setting resolutions (that I will later beat myself up for not meeting) - I do like to spend some time really evaluating things to see what's working well in my life and what I would change. I think this can be a super helpful exercise to do in all the major areas of my life.

Yes... this kind of evaluation can be helpful to do at any point in the year, but I feel like there is a certain magic in the air around New Year's that make this kind of planning feel exciting.

You want to know one of the biggest areas of my life? Steem. Lately I've been feeling a little reactive, instead of inspired. I've been a little overcommitted and that's led to me not creating as much content as a I really want to and not engaging quite on the level that I'd like.

So i'm shaking things up.

In this vlog I talk all about the new habits and rituals I'm going to try out around Steem to see if I can streamline my processes and get to the place I want - while still leading the super busy life that I do. I feel super energized about it right now and am excited to see how it goes.

I hope some of you find this video helpful as you start to think about your 2019 and how you want to shape it.

Big love to you all.

Xo, Lea

I don't know how you manage to stay so positive when steem is crashing. Props to you though. Not sure this platform is going to last much longer.

I could suggest the Partiko app. You can reply to comments and upvote stuff a lot faster. But that's if you want to do stuff as it happens, so to speak. It depends on your time management / mental focus.

Thanks @shaidon! I'm in a bit more of a "batch my work" mode right now (although I go in phases of doing stuff as it happens too. I love partiko and totally agree it's a perfect app for Steemin' on the go!

Right now it's been kind of nice to just carve out a little chunk of time everyday to sit on my laptop and reply to comments together. I'm much faster typing on my keyboard than I am on my phone!

Thanks for the thoughtful comment! <3

i wonder why nobody uses partiko Messenger yet... everbody used to discord?

I have no idea. I guess discord is somewhat faster. But then again oublic comments have rewards attached to them.

partiko messenges are not public

I never said they were. I am saying that public comments get rewarded, private messages don't.

yeah but discord chats arent rewarded at all

I think discord allows for groups to leave messages that everyone can read.

I do think that´s the best way to go... you avoid getting burnout and at the same time you keep producing this incredible content and very interesting to the entire community.

I must admit I always enjoy your answers, but it is indeed very exhausting to answer everybody, especially considering how big you are becoming.

aww well thank you for that. I know a lot of content creators don't reply to comments as they grow - but whenever I try out just leaving upvotes instead of replies... I kind of hate it. Haha I don't feel nearly as connected anymore. Besides... Chatting in the comment section kind of feels like I get to hang out with all my Steem friends. :)

Thanks so much for the thoughtful response! <3

ye, exactly, the comment section allows people to get to know each other, most of the times people from so many different countries and cultures...

You're welcome!! ;)

I think it is an interesting approach! I did want to give you the perspective that your current issue (not problem) is a good one to have as it demonstrates the value you bring to the ecosystem and also the demand for your content and engagement. Look forward to 2019!

aww thank you for the kind remark!! You are totally right... it's a great "problem" to have. :)

Thanks for the encouragement and I'm stoked to see where 2019 takes us!

It is good to make a resolution because it is a positive approach to the things that seems to bother us to make it better. So setting up goals and sticking to it is the best way to improve things in our lives @coruscate

Thanks for the thoughtful comment @cryptopie! I'm hoping that setting some of these goals and rituals will help me stay on top of things.

I hope you have a wonderful New Years!

I have never made a new years resolution, not that I can remember. Honestly I don't know why people assign so much meaning to this whole new year thing. Life is circular and the only thing I guess that makes sense to celebrate is your birthday, the day at which point you technically have come a full circle and you are officially a year older. I think people should start their year on a birthday and schedule their new years resolutions around that time. Just my 5c

Ooh I like that you have 5c instead of the regular 2. haha

Topics like resolutions are sooo personal and everyone has a slightly different perspective on them. I don't attach much meaning to them either - except that I do like spending time around the new year reflecting on things I could maybe improve. I'm not sure why there seems to be such a big draw for me to do that around the beginning of the year. Maybe it has more to do with winter. The cold and darkness are a more natural time for reflection and planning, where spring feels more natural to start projects (plant seeds), summer feels natural for explosive growth and excitement etc.

Sounds like a solid plan and hopefully it works out for you. Id like to see maybe a review on how its going after a few months. I found that I break down my day and assign an hour to each task I get more done because I focus only for one hour and take a break, that way I dont get bored and labour through to get a task done and by the end of the week I feel I get more done.

Does require you making lists and keeping up progress tabs but when you spread a task over a few days you also get to think of more angles or add more resources etc and it improves the quality of your work. Not ideal for everyone but I find it works well for me

Love it!! That's cool to hear that you've been able to feel so much more productive in your day by sectioning hours out. I like your point about not getting too bored with any particular task too.

I'll be sure to report back in a few months to see how it's going!
