Renegade's Home Build vlog #35 - Basement Plywood?

in #dtube5 years ago

My brother and I made a big push this past weekend to install 1/2 inch treated plywood over the foundation foam board. It has been extremely irritating to have to make a 3 hour round trip after work to turn on the generator to empty the basement sump of water after it rains. Getting the plywood done means being able to fix the grading issues leading to this water build up.

A big plus is that the new pressure treated plywood is brown instead of green and it matches our roof! We plan to leave the plywood as is until we are at least moved into the house. Eventually we will be covering this plywood in stucco/parging, but in the short run we will leave it as is to help save us some money and time. It might weather a little but should be serviceable as is for a year or two.

Great progress @@@canadianrenegade & family! I bet it will be quite a relief to get that drainage issue under control! It's nice your neighbour can help with that. Man i hope the snow in the forecast does not amount to much! Hope your easter was great. Looking forward to the next update.

Thanks.

Friday night now, and it sounds like we are going to get a whack of snow! I am hoping that most of it melts right away and it does not impede my drive out there. I should have some stuff to do inside the house tomorrow but I was also hoping to get some stuff done outside. we will see I guess....

Thanks for sharing your creative and inspirational video!
