DaVinci Resolve - Slowly Breaking Free From Apple
People,
I'm starting to make a move towards open source and cross-platform tools in an attempt to break free from the Apple "ecosystem".
One of such tools is DaVinci Resolve which I will now be using to edit video in addition to iMovie. Eventually I will move completely to Resolve when I'm proficient enough.

AHHHH YES. I HAVE RESOLVE BASIC. APPLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY... WHAT'S THE WORD... WELL FOR INSTANCE, WHEN I GAVE UP MY BLACKBERRY PEARL FOR THE BRAND NEW IPHONE (1ST GEN). I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED THAT I COULDN'T SEND PICTURES THROUGH TEXT. THEY COULD HAVE PUT THE TECH IN IT. THE TECH HAD ALREADY BEEN THERE. THER RAZOR, I MEAN SO MANY PHONES... NOPE, THEY MADE YOU WAIT. APPLE WANTED YOU TO GET THE 2ND PHONE. THEY SAVED THAT FEATURE FOR THAT ONE... APPLE LIKE SLOWLY FEEDS THINGS. THEIR WAY. I STAYED WITH APPLE UNTIL THE 4TH GENERATION. I GOT BORED OF IT. I SWITCHED TO SAMSUNG, NEVER LOOKED BACK! I HAVE A SAMSUNG NOTE 9... MAN AMAZING. BACK TO RESOLVE, IT IS THE BEST FREE EDITOR OUT THERE BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE ALL THE FLASHY STUFF. BUT THE PAID VERSION...OMG...... GREAT VIDEO!!!

Thanks for the info , was looking for a good editor and tried out wondershare filmora but it’s shit to me. Glad to know about DR. Gonna start messing with it today👽

I also was disappointed when Apple changed their views on Photos as well. No longer depending on closed source ecosystems is probably a great idea for artists like you. The video looked well and I could not recognize the difference.

Ah I'm glad to hear it. Also my favourite YouTuber uses it too, so I'm looking forward to getting good at it.

Haha you won't be disappointed, the new version of resolve should be really awesome. Now it's still in Beta but in a couple of months they should release a stable version..
I'm good thanks, I'm going to get the "long selfie stick" license soon. So it should be alright..

I have no idea why on earth I have not heard about davinci before but I'm about to download it - can't believe it's free :O I'm also starting to get very disappointed with apple and their questionable business decisions. I mean I'm using my macbook right now and it is amazing but I am fully aware that there are cheaper, faster alternatives out there and people are definitely moving away from apple, at least that's what it feels like to me. And don't even get me started on mobiles :S Anyways thanks for making this video about davinci!
Hahaha. Yeah, it's insane that this software is free. There is a paid version that is super professional, but I sill cant believe how powerful the free version is.
Apple - there's no doubt their stuff was well built, which is why I still use a 5-6 year old macbook, which runs perfectly fine. But I did pay about £1k for it at the time - which was expensive but you do get value out of their products.
BUT they've been showing us their true colours for years and we didnt believe them haha. It's all about the money bro.

Davinci Resolve 16 is out!! (I currently have 15) and I'm going to download it immediately!!!!
They've added a quick edit tool "cut" that's basically Final Cut Pro x hahaha. It means I now KNOW HOW TO USE DAVINCI hahaha. WHAT A GREAT DAY! haha.
Yeah I just downloaded it and love it already lol
I've been suffering all day learning to get my head round the "Edit" tab. That is the old school way of editing. Now this new 'Cut' tab is basically iMovie :)
Seems alot like FCP which is great, the edit tab is more complex but you can do many cool things on there, I can't believe it's free :D
It's the same for google, they are also removing things we liked there. For example I loved Google + , is was a kind of social network liked to our youtube channels and now, there is not google +. Sad to see them care only about profit. :(
I used Google + a lot when it first came out. There was an amazing photography community on there.
