María (Venezuelan Waltz) - Los Cañoneros [English-Español-Deutsch]
As I promised when I wrote the story of the Los Cañoneros group, I keep publishing their full discography. This time it is the turn of a song that was very popular in the 80s, due to the salsa version recorded by the Sonero del Mundo, Oscar D'León. The composition is by his adoptive father, but to our surprise we found a version as a Venezuelan waltz, recorded in the 60s by the group Los Criollos. We don't know which rhythm it was originally written, but we wanted to share our waltz version, a rhythm that fits the song very well.
In a small tribute to the soneros, I used the trumpet with a mute, something that is not common in cañonera music, but in son.

Tal como lo prometí cuando escribí la historia del grupo Los Cañoneros, sigo publicando su discografía completa. En esta ocasión le toca el turno a una canción que fue muy popular en los años 80, debido a la versión en salsa que grabó el Sonero del Mundo, Oscar D'León. La composición es de su padre adoptivo, pero para nuestra sorpresa encontramos esta versión como vals venezolano, grabada en los años 60 por el grupo Los Criollos. No sabemos en qué ritmo fue escrita originalmente, pero quisimos compartir nuestra versión en vals, ritmo que le queda muy bien a la canción.
En un pequeño homenaje a los soneros, utilicé la trompeta con sordina, algo que no es común en la música cañonera, pero si en el son.

Wie ich versprach, als ich die Geschichte der Gruppe Los Cañoneros schrieb, veröffentliche ich weiter ihre vollständige Diskografie. Diesmal ist es die Wendung eines Songs, der in den 80ern aufgrund der von Sonero del Mundo, Oscar D'León, aufgenommenen Salsaversion sehr beliebt war. Die Komposition stammt von seinem Adoptivvater, aber zu unserer Überraschung fanden wir diese Version als venezolanischen Walzer, aufgenommen in den 60er Jahren von der Gruppe Los Criollos. Wir wissen nicht, mit welchen Rhytmus es ursprünglich geschrieben wurde, aber wir wollten unsere Walzerversion teilen, ein Rhythmus, der sehr gut zum Lied passt.
In einer kleinen Hommage an die Soneros benutzte ich die Trompete mit einem Dämpfer, etwas, das in der Cañoneramusik nicht üblich ist, aber im Son.
