Never More

Somewhere between the unknown and these memories of you,
in between the crowded streets and fragrant sheets,
I lay myself down into the dream of all we once were.

Amidst the crumbling foundations and slowly decaying ruins,
of castles built on what could have been,

What should have been;

I watched the weeds of lies and sex, as they slowly creeped through.

Somewhere between necessities and the palatably acquired,
remains the remnants of finger-slipped dust.
scattered by the winds of change in recent storms.

While blistered hands achingly try to console the bleeding heart,
by picking up the pieces scattered over never-more’s,
tirelessly trying to weave them back together,

Into something beautiful

Into something functional

Into Me.
