Not hateful, not-a-rant post about the DrugWars

in #drugwars6 years ago

Let's see why ranting crowd doesn't understand math.

If you can't handle the fact that math doesn't care about your feelings, go directly to the bottom of this page and click Flag button.

However, if you are willing to read this carefully and understand the fact without having an emotional meltdown - keep reading.

How Steem is generated?

This is the key question and the pitfall for 90% of Steem communities.

It should be already known to you, as it's clearly written in the White/Bluepaper.

The total amount, converted to $ is about 15-20.000

Many people have wild expectations for Steem(it).

  • it will end hunger in Africa
  • it will fix white privilege/ gender gap, whatever
  • it will disrupt the economy
  • it will change the world

Great! However, math doesn't care

We are only redistributing the Steem!

Ok, you understand that there is, let's say, 20.000 $ worth of Steem generated per day.

  • you can give 0.10 $ to 200.000 people
  • or 1.00 $ to 20.000 people
  • or you can pay 200 people a salary

All the stupidities we can observe:

  • bid-bots
  • vote-for-vote
  • milking the pool

Are worthless because none of those is producing any value

We are only redistributing the Steem!

Let's talk about Integrals

It's simple. If you spent a year on Steemit, it will take about a year to double the amount of your Steem.

You should not care at all, about the amount of Steem you have

The price matters! Only! The! Price!

(objective) Price is directly related to the number of users. This is why you should praise the DrugWars

  • This game became more popular than the whole Steemit
  • This game generated more transactions
  • This game generated more posts
  • This game actually made us all some money

But I invested...

Ok, let's repeat the math:

  • the amount of produced Steem is constant (decreasing, but let's say constant)
  • DrugWars will get more and more users onboard
  • you will invest Steem
  • and you will get more Steem that in any other way

How? How if the amount of produced Steem is not increasing?

How do you expect to see 10.000 people playing DrugWars and competing for those 20.000 $ getting (type the number that you've expected) $.

If the number is 0.1-0.5 $, congrats, you were realistic

If the number is 1-5 $, WHAT? HOW? WHY?

Also, what I don't understand. You were paying upgrades in Steem, for a single account, although the price is rising exp. while the production increase linearly.

If you want to "earn", you should make a bot-farm

But I feel scammed!

You should not. You paid to boost the production immediately. You have got what you paid for.
If you expected to earn, ask yourselves, why developers haven't sold their houses and invested.
If you expected to earn 500 $ per month by doing nothing - you are not realistic.

Why this situation is GOOOOD

Developers gave us fun. I invested 0 Steem, got maybe 5 Steem + Fun

I don't know about you, but in real-life, I'm doing most of the things because those are fun. Not to earn a dollar.

There will be a new coin. Maybe it will moon, who knows.

More useful digital product = more users = higher Steem price = more money for everybody

If you think that if you feel it's real

You. Are. Wrong. The math is always right!

Big support from my side for the whole team.
Thank's again for this fantastic game

This is the key question and the pitfall for 90% of Steem communities.

And yet, many people skip math classes in school thinking math is absolutely worthless for their everyday lives 😎

It's fine, they skip classes. It's totally fine.

Once they grow up, they can - ask those who are better educated and/or more experienced in that particular area.

You should not guess, you should not feel:

  • if you have a medical problem - go to a doctor
  • problem with a law - go to a lawyer

Simple as that. Don't wait to experience severe Dunning-Kruger effect and damage your opportunity. Don't let your lack of understanding makes you feeling resentful

But nooo... Steemians want to break all the rules of space, time, history, physics, math, psychology... And just create the whole new order out of nothing. In about a month or week.

Privileged man, privileged oppressor :D

thing is, it had a lot of transactions, and a lot of "players" but how much of them were new people in the steem community and how much of that were multi acc trying to milk the game?
Also we all knew that game was in early early early stage when it started, but a lot of things are done bad and not really thought true, and the game needs a lot to be decent.
Thinking that you will certainly make money for months to come well you don't need integrals to know that it is hard for that to happen. when you have a pile of something, and devs take part of the pile and the rest is distributed back well pile can't be bigger.
biggest problem with it is the marketing, as it is with steemit. play a game and make money, post blogs and make money, people think hundreds of dollars not cents.
i can't complain as i made more steem from drugwars then i do for month of posting so... :D

People will always try to find an advantage, it's evolution :D

For me, the most important thing is to keep creating digital products.

If the price increases x10, the amount of Steem is irrelevant
(*based on the historical price of Steem, approx x4 vs BTC and comparison to today's price and x5 for BTC vs $)

Who knows, maybe FutureCoin will mooon :D

But I feel scammed! You should not. You paid to boost the production immediately. You have got what you paid for.

This is the part that everybody should understand.

Exactly...

Why contracts are written by lawyers with a lot of experience, on 20 pages, all that framed into the legal system?

Because the defining of various obligations is difficult.

It this case: you pay, you get your upgrade, now.
That's it. That's all.

Indeed. I think it is wrong to assume buying product in game is investment. It is fun, of course. I did buy some stuff in the game, but not because I thought of it as investment, I just liked things moving fast. As long as the game continues it doesn't matter what coin it pays in. If that coin moons, woo hoo, if it doesn't, never mind. Though I do understand the fear of people who recently spent a lot of money buying stuff in game as "investment". It would have been nice for them if the get more time window than 48 hrs. But, anyhow, I hope they do get something out of new coin. Let's see.

I see, again and again, that Steemians' mindset is "prostitutes, pimps and clients".

Rich clients with a lot of Steem are paying for love, while the prostitutes walk away as soon as the amount of money decreases.

It's wrong, but it's expected.

The main focus, always, always, needs to be on product

This game is a good product. This is why we are playing it.

It's impossible to think that you are the genius and that you will make an incredible ROI while those who are much more involved - are doing to miss the chance.
