Choices

Let's break this word down.
Choices. Everyone loves these. Maybe no one loves all of them but they most certainly will like some. There is just too many choices out there not to fall n love with choices. When I was younger, (much younger). There was not as many choices around. Maybe 5 or 6, that didn't matter most people liked at least one of those choices. Thinking back imagine what life was like without the luxury of choices.

My personal favourite choice is Mint. Yup, ye can't beat Mint Chocolate Ice Cream.

Oh yea Choices is a combination of words. Chocolate and Ice Cream. Chocolate Ices. Choices.

Do I have a choice to write this post or not to. Dayum right I do and I will write it my way. You have a choice. Something we hear regular. The same way as I don't like going to using extremes as a way to emphasis a point. There are some things we can just accept as the norm. Extremes like you have the choice to shoot someone or not. That you choose not to. Is not an example of a choice. That is on morals, your own morality and ability to live with those actions.

There are many places we at a glance appear to have a free choice. To the most part these choices are restricted. Let me state this from here. I do not believe you are free.

Let's examine some of the choices we feel we have as a people of freedom.

Freedom to live where you choose to. No you do not have this. You cannot just go to a vacant space and begin to build your home. There are restrictions to prevent this. The first thing is that spot of land might already belong to someone else.

Who else is local to the space should also be considered. First in first choice? This should be respected. Any additional property after the first should not remove value from the first but should improve the price, if it has any effect. This is the reason a planning application is shown for any development to be undertaken in populated areas.

Although that example above was more about the restrictions society's rules hold. It is just to highlight even actions which do not directly hurt another do have a consequence that might be unseen to us. Very visible to another though. There is a restriction on some of the choices we may make for legitimate reasons. These reasons make it easier for us all to get along.

These rules I think we need to keep an equilibrium of balance. Spot lighting the moral values we agree to live by.

Okay here is the part you might want to skip the conspiracy of no choice. You don't have one feckin hint of a choice, every choice you feel you make has already been determined. The only part of your life in today's society, local national and international. They don't control is what soul goes to what body. Once the soul is in the body. Choices are made about how that soul will live. These can be things from living standards so low as not eating regular or even access to fresh water.

The choice to leave that country and move to a more prosperous place is not available to the majority. Then will you support them when they reach your border? Migration is not a long term solution unless through our actions we went and polluted yet another piece of land or water.

It is not reasonable of any of us to expect to be able to support another nation alone. It is reasonable to expect as a community of people globally we can work with the interests of both the environment and the people at heart. This does not mean there is no room for profit to reward investors/contributors.

The minerals or materials a country has to offer are in no way represented in the improvement to a standard of life to the general population. In theory it is said the people of the land own the minerals and materials of that land. Those same things can be bought out from under a nations people without their knowledge.

Then let us take elections. Again you have no choice. The candidates put before you were selected for you to choose from. You have a choice to make. Choose the side that my left pocket supports, or give it to the side a right pocket supports. This is quite often the case in politics. Favours but the votes and the votes the general population make have little to no effect on the agenda the government formed bring about. The same finance that puts the politician in power also influences it's policies. When something works for the benefit often the cost to the Nation is dismissed as it will not be the company who has to pay the end price.

How often can you recall the politician elected reflecting the morals and goals they had set forth prior to the election result. Rising like bubbles and their lies revealed with time as the bubble pops. Consequences are non existent. Any ill gotten gains will be left in the wallet of the deceiver. Should anything be removed it will be a small % of the total accumulation.

Dragged into this culture by the ears. We are born to it. It feels so natural. It's all we know. Any new generation born accepts the reality imposed on them with greater ease. As soon as we are walking we begin to learn the concept of money or finance. Even before, as we were brought shopping for the weekly groceries. We do not gain that freedom of choice to the life we want to live. A lot of the time the life we live is the one we were born into. (Granted more opportunities are available now than there was before.)

The food items available to eat packed with additives and preservatives. Causing more damage to our bodies than benefits. Yes we have a choice to buy the more organically grown (so said). This just happens to cost 25% more than the other cheaper option. The budget won't go far if the 25% extra product is bought. Not really much freedom of choice there when you think about it. We can eat 5 days a week and starve for 2 or we can provide a meal of sorts each day.

In this free world the choices we have are given in a manner that will channel the choices we make.

We live on the near side of the green curtain. We do not see who is controlling the machine behind it. There is the general population. The Government curtain and those who work the mechanics.

The same for Steem. There is a majority of smaller population. The witness curtain. Then those who will control them.

Nice, I agree we have very little choice in many of those things to the point that abstaining is not even a rebel move but just something that has been accounted for and nullified by those who still believe in the choice. As for steem mmm tricky because on one hand I think many do have legit concerns but the only choice is to accept and then either abstain or adapt gradually. I guess it is like that with anything you might care or have vested interest in. Choices reliant on others are not worth the effort - more a guide than a rule.
