Drawitbetter Contest #12 - Sunflowers. Unexpected improvisation

Recently, I learned another way to revitalize the watercolor work. For this, I need mascara and a little luck. I peeped this reception from an artist. With the help of this technique, she writes sketches of birds, maybe I'll try it someday. And I decided to experiment on the colors. Sunflowers!

I use the watercolor "Nevskaya Palitra": cadmium lemon, cadmium yellow medium, sepia, green, burnt sienna, ultramarine. Mascara black. Paper Palazzo 280g / m2, 70% cotton.

First I outline the approximate arrangement of sunflower flowers on the sheet. I mean the middle of the flowers. I pick up watercolors and make the fillings of the middle: yellow, brown and sienna. By wet paper I add droplets of mascara. And I sprinkle with salt until the watercolor is dry. This procedure I spend with all the middle of the flowers. After completely drying the sheet, I shake the salt. My middles of a flower are ready.

Now I take the cadmium yellow and add petals. I put them chaotically, while trying to convey shades. I add sepia and cadmium lemon. I write the petals in several layers. On the white space of the sheet I add an olive shade of watercolor: there are foliage somewhere)

To slightly revive the flowers, I decided to add yellow tips to the petals. Since watercolor is not a cover material, I take in my hands pastel. And at the central flower I add accents to the petals.

Here is such a strange and interesting technique of working with watercolor. Have you ever interfered with watercolors with mascara in this way?
