How I Draw Pikachu

I chose you Pikachu!

This is supposedly my entry to an art contest themed pokémon but then I am so busy taking care with my late dog who died last Sunday (Feb. 25, 2018) that it really breaks our heart until now, and tour 3 remaining dogs were still sick so I am still busy taking care of them. I've got so many contests that I put in my memo because I wanted to join but my time is not enough because I am taking care with my 3 dogs and I go to school too, traveling back and forth that will exhaust my energy.

This is actually my first love when it comes to anime because I have seen this before on the television every single day from Mondays to Fridays. I believe at love at first sight because the first time I saw Pikachu on the tv I already fell in love with him ever since until this very moment. I even asked my mother to buy me a huggable toy of Pikachu way back before that even now it is still packed on its cover because I'm afraid I might get it dirty.

Ash didn't get a chance to chose a pokémon between Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle but since Ash woke up late then when he went to the laboratory he got nothing because it was all chosen from another character. But Professor Oak give him something special which is Pikachu and that is the day when they met with each other.

I chose you Pikachu! use your thunderbolts now!

At first, Pikachu and Ash don't get along since Pikachu doesn't listen to his trainer, Ash but later on, when something came up along with the road, Pikachu and Ash gained their trust with each other and that is the beginning where they became friends or best friends.

Materials Used

Mongol 2 pencil
Eraser
Sharpener
Bond paper
Glass (for water)
Technical pen 0.2
Watercolor pencil

I used the glass to make a circle for Pokeball

I created a parallel line and 3 circles in the middle

Then a quick sketch on Pikachu. So this is my output.

So I traced him using my technical pen 0.2

I colored his tail first by the color yellow, actually I used two colors for the yellow then 2 colors for the brown too.

I colored the upper part of his ear by using my technical pen 0.2. As what I have told in my explanation above, I used two colors for yellow, so this color yellow is a lighter color so I used it as my first base.

Then I put the other color of yellow to make it look vibrant cause it has a vibrant color than the first color I used as my first base. For the darker color or for the shadow, I used the color gold to make a difference but will blend with the color. After that, I colored his cheeks or the circles on his cheeks into where the volts are coming from his face

I colored his eyes, into color brown and some of his parts in his back. light brown was my first base then I finished it into dark brown.

I got carried away by coloring the Pokeball, so for this, I colored the upper part by two colors scarlet and red, I mixed the two colors and after that I I used my technical pen 0.2 for the center of Pokeball including the push button. Then for the lower part, I used color gray just for shadowing the lower part of the Pokeball, since the original color of Pokeball is red, black and white.

For the finishing touch of Pikachu altogether with its Pokeball I used color black for the shadow.
And this is the final output of my drawing Pikachu.

Fun fact: I forgot to color Pikachu's tongue in my heading pic, the reason why I forgot to color because at that time I am doing this drawing, I am watching my late dog for his recovery all night then it was already 6 in the morning (Sunday morning) and my mother said that Hawk (name of our late dog that died on Feb. 25, 2018) needs to take his med by 6 in the morning so I hurriedly fed him for his med without knowing that I forgot to color Pikachu's tongue. Hence, as I watch copying my photos to post I noticed that the Pikachu's tongue is color white so I hurriedly colored it.
