Dragonfly and dragon-mythology in the mirror of reality

in #dragonfly5 years ago

If someone opens the Hebrew Wikipedia under the Dragonfly value, it will find etymological definitions, basic information, a few words about distribution in Israel and ... this is. Much wisdom and information and mythology about the dragonfly seem to have been lost. We no longer look at nature in wonder and magic in the past. Mythology and legends were abandoned to the religion of science. In Asia, dragonflies symbolize speed and courage, and in Europe dragonflies were considered horse bites, devil's cages, monsters, demons, and shepherds.

Among the residents of the Pueblo (cities built on cliffs in Texas and Mexico), the Navajo, Hazuni, Hopi and Cherokee tribes have many legends associated with the name of the dragonfly; Some are good and some are bad, but my favorite is the legend of the dragon and the kyatta. The legend is probably the origin of the Cherokee tribe, but I would not be surprised if there were different versions among all Pueblo dwellers. This version I am telling, and it is different from the other versions. It is not in any way copied, or translated. I do not find the version I read years ago, and I think it never existed in the Israeli network.

ALEXI: Once, many years ago, the dragonfly was a threatening and beautiful dragon, with scales in the colors of the rainbow shining in the sunlight and the moon like precious gems. And like his scales, this power tit wanted a great deal of gems and gold, food and supplies, so he threatened to use his enormous power to get him. It seems that in no way the world of animals, spirits and man has been able to satisfy the boundless greed of a dragon. Hunger, suffering and drought in the land, and tribal councils convened to discuss the welfare of the people.

They sent their best fighters, and when they failed, the hunters. And when these were consumed, men and women. There seems to be no way to stop the dragon. The great spirit also gathered its vitality, and it did not seem to have the virtue or medicine to oppose the draconian rule. The grumpy old Quetta was present, and for once he spared his wailing whine. But inside he was thinking carefully about how to defeat the terrifying beast.

One evening, when a dragon added its new treasures to the old ones, the kiota approached him amicably. The dragon fired a flame at him. The kyoto jumped back. "You are definitely a powerful dragon and respected!" The quilt whined. And the terrible monster stopped in a majestic position. "And that's not all I can do," he said. The kiotta decided to try his hand at manipulation: "Your fire is very strong, but can you melt the rock to my left?" Without batting an eyelid the dragon blew on the rock and it became a puddle of trend. "You're good at destruction, but can you create?" Asked the kyote. The dragon pointed to a piece of desert, which turned into a flowering garden full of corn and watermelon.

"All this is fine, and yet, can you make yourself talk ... something, so small and feeble? Power, after all, is also a limitation, one that must be shed when it is useless." The dragon concentrated, and created into his consciousness the weakest thing he could imagine, a fly, not a mosquito, a small insect containing the most distant resemblance between the fiery animal of his essence and his heart, and then, . And opposite the kite appeared the dragonfly. "Here you are, dear dragon, you have now shown me that your power is truly immense and mighty," said Quetta. "Now I'll take some of your treasures and eat some of your meal."

The dragonfly became angry, immediately decided to return to being the terrible dragon and to crush Quetta. But the transformation of a dragonfly is complete, and it gets stuck in the shell that surrounds it. From now on she was only a helpless insect. After the kyoto took part in the treasures of the dragonfly, he summoned the humans and other animals, who shared the remains and rejoiced in the departure of a dragon. The disaster was averted, and the world continued another incarnation, another cycle, and for a while everything was good.

Of course, the great wind did not leave the Dragonfly powerless for a long time. Like all the animals of nature, she also had a place in the great wheel of life and the Shapira received the medicine of illusions. It spins illusions, removes illusions and preserves places of power and abundance. The beauty of the dragonfly, and its vivid colors are reminiscent of the dragon's gems, and the worlds of illusion. In the picture is my collection of dragonfly figures from the Zuni tribe.

It is not just that I need to re-tell this story and put it in writing: I started a new job. This blog has been with me since 2004, high school, army, university and adolescence. It may be one of the only fixed things in my life. All this time I managed to avoid the labor market in one way or another. Now, I'm already practicing my profession. I grew up in both cabinets, the closet of homosexuality and the broom closet (the magic cabinet). Is there a weak version of me sitting in front of the computer or series of books on a shelf, whose only defense is actually the illusion that I am a different, normative person, and to be honest? A bit boring. I am aware that every mask we choose to wear leaves us with its mark. I'm not like the poor dragon, who thinks a moment in another way will not leave his mark. Not bad. Soon my Blackthorn wand will come from Glastonbury, and at least I can use it discreetly when you destroy books, but let's leave it a secret. Good?
