Are smaller caliber bullets more humane?
Some decades ago mayor armies in the world reduced the calibers of their most used assault rifles from greater calibers to smaller ones. (From calibers 7.62 mm, .45 or .30 to 5.45 mm /Russia/, 5.56 mm /USA, NATO/.) There are many explications for this, among others also counts the weight of the equipment of the soldiers.
But one argument is strange for me: Smaller bullets were more humane because instead of killing the enemy, are only injuring them. Others say an injured soldier causes more burden to the foe army than dead ones – the wounded must be treated, healed, transported, feed, the killed, not...
Are smaller caliber bullets more humane in your opinion?

I’m gonna go out on an limb and say if it was you on the battlefield most people would want to live with injuries than be dead, imo.

The question is, can be one of two inhumane things more humane than the other? I think decapitation is more humane than burning on the stake.
And: Do we need armies? And if we must have armies, which ammunition should they use?
