RE: Do you think That It Is Better To Lower The Age Of Criminal Responsibility From 15 to 12 Years Old?

in #dpoll6 years ago (edited)

I'm not sure how it works in the Philippines. In the U.S., minors are not simply let go if they commit a crime but the punishments are different and not typically as severe, geared in theory towards reform (though I don't know how well it actually works). However, for certain severe crimes, minors can be tried as adults. The criteria for that depends on what part of the country you live in.

My answer would be "it depends". Even a 12 year old should not simply be let go with no consequences if they commit a crime but penalties should be geared towards reform more that strictly punishment.

Now the minors who are in conflict with the law would be institutionalized and tried as an adult depending on the crime committed @darth-azrael
Children are different now, they can learn, access, and do evil things much faster than before because of the Internet.
