When I first started on Steemit, for the first few months, all of my posts would either earn zero or a few cents at best. Even when I felt like I'd get a good upvote here or there by the time the 7 day earning period was over the Steemit site would dwindle that amount down to almost nothing by payout time as it does with every post. So needless to say I got super frustrated and didn't see the point of using this site. Combined this with the fact that the markets were falling fast and it felt like I was investing money into something that wouldn't generate any income at in return for. I very nearly gave up and cashed out my sizable losses but the need to understand how others were succeeding and the need to improve myself and find a way to gain more followers and earn more trumped my anger and frustration. After all, I do enjoy doing, I'm hooked on it. I see it as a hobby and a way to get involved in new things that a lot of society still hasn't caught on to. To top it off, there are a lot of cool people on here too once you take the time to start getting to know people. 7-8 months later or so I now have about 2,700 followers and finding myself receiving $1-$2 per post, which I post at least once every day, so I can see that it's going somewhere. The amounts are small but it still feels good and feels like I am accomplishing something. It also helps that I'm super addicted to Steem Monsters already too considering the gameplay hasn't even started yet. I guess when I get into things I REALLY get into things and it consumes me.

Simpel answer:

Money.

Most of the things I'm doing on Steem are just for the sake of greed. Trying to make the most of every Steem I got. 😎

At 52, I don't have much of a retirement plan. Since joining Steemit in March, I've seen my SP climb slowly. I've watched my posts climb from making next to nothing on Day 1 to a couple of them earn over $100. That didn't happen over night.

At first, I was excited when posts starting making .50. A few did, a few didn't. Then, a few hit that $1.00 mark. Gradually, I have seen payouts gets bigger, and that's a huge motivation. This has encouraged me to start thinking up ways I can encourage other Steemians and be a contributor to the ecosystem and not just a taker. Also, if I keep looking ahead and considering the long-term value of my Steemit account, it can be my retirement portfolio, or at least contribute a great deal to my retirement income. I can't think of anything more satisfying to a writer than to sit in his rocking chair and earn passive income from past work produced. That motivates me.

A simple question and an easy one to answer.
At least for me. But it can’t be answered with one single answer. So let’s go:

  • I do love interaction and meeting new people. What place could you find them better than here?
  • I do like a challenge! And I challenged myself to get to 1000SP without buying too much Steem.
  • It would be a waste to let my SBI shares do nothing! Having SBI is a real motivator to keep on posting otherwise it would have been a stupid investment! The same goes for @upvoteshares and the @investorsclub
  • I really genuinly follow people so I am interested in their lives, investments and hobbies. If I would stay away I would miss all these things!
  • posting my bets on steem keeps my disciplined about it, which makes me better!
  • I am one of the co-founders of the Steem Betting Community, so I should act as a role model. And giving up isn’t exactly a good example!
  • I do enjoy myself too much here, this alone is one hell of a motivation!
  • I do see it a little bit as a retirement funds and maybe it will be worth nada when I do retire within 20 years but at least I will have tried!

So many reasons why to atick around! But the main one I guess is that I enjoy being here!
Regardless of the value of Steem!

Cheers,
Peter

I really enjoy just growing my account it is silly but I really like to see that .004 and .008 sp roll in now that I have enough steem power to earn those curation rewards. Or see those author rewards roll in with bigger numbers. It really fun to see them grow and grow. That is what keeps me going and it isn't that I am making a lot of money it is that my power to give out more with my vote is growing. I have meet up with some great people on steemit from all over the world and my vote now gives a whole .01 but it is better than nothing and I know that soon I will be at .02. I really like the idea that I will have the power to greet people and give them a little bumb when they join. Or keep helping the Pay it forward people grow. Also now to keep supporting this SBI idea and see how it grows. My first two months here have been great and I know that if you put in the time here you can and will make it further and further. That is what keeps me going but the real push behind it all is my family. If I am on steemit and we really make this a powerful social media/ learning site and much much more then a lot of us can us steemit to live a different kind of life. Not a 9 to 5 life with over time and driving for uber on the weekends to make sure bills are covered. No more fastfood night cause well it's cheap even if I know it is bad for me. It could happen here maybe not but at least it is fun site to poke around on.

@dosdudes ** positivity** keep on driving me to post here. You may be knowing I often found some of the great writer, who are so exceptional in their skill that within two months of their account existence their two short fiction was selected by Curie and their other works are often selected randomly by too many groups. But still they are not making what their real post worth.
The thing I hate most is that such kind and exceptional people are pushed away here. But they don't quit.
I wanted to become a successful writer of atlest my best fiction that's why I don't quit.
Second Goku my profile pics. I am his die hard fan. He always teach me to surpass my own limit rather pointing mistakes in different creative geeks.
Thanks

I keep at it because one day those dust transactions will add up...persistence will payoff.

Plus, there’s a great community and lots of fun contests like these! :)

@tcpolymath & @definethedollar you are the 2 winners! Congrats. Sending shares of sbi now.

Awesome! Thanks so much!!!

Motivation is a powerful tool. I get motivated with people write up, experiences shared and sense of belonging portrayed by vast steemians like you @dosdudes. Your achievements motivates a lot of upcoming steemians.

I've set some goals for myself, and they are my drive.
Some of them are that I want to reach 1000SP before any widthrawal, I want to write stories which will get curied (at least 3 of them), reach 200SBI, etc...

I believe that you've got the point. My main drive on Steemit is to reach my goals, and in the process if I meet interesting persons, that is just a bonus :)
