The Memory Box
How many of you reading this post have a memory box? One, not imagined in the mind, but where you keep precious trinkets and mementos.
“Why do I need a memory box?” You may wonder.
To which I reply. “ I wish you never needed to have a memory box but sometimes it is a necessary part of life ~ of things tucked safely in your heart that need a physical presence.
This is my memory box that contains cards, letters, some photos and other special remembrances.
Those of you who have read my blogs know I lost my son, Kevin. It was a year after his fatal accident I got the memory box and had it engraved.
Not only memorandums of Kevin are in there but of my brother, mother, father and other close family and friends who have left the earth plane.
It is not meant to be a box to be opened and be depressed. No, it is to remember the good times with special people who will always be in your heart and mind. Yes ... Tears may fall and tears are part of healing.
Sometimes you will find a message in the memory box like this card from Kevin. I was surprised and happy to find it on the top when I opened the box, although is a mystery how it got there.
I take finding this card and other subtle reminders that those who loved you want you to be happy with the time allotted here but you cannot skip your time of grief for them or numb the emotions.
After the grief period you must move forward, for, I think, If you dwell in the dark abyss too long it will hold the departed to the earth plane.
What would you put in your memory box? I also want you to describe what it looks like. Your memory box does not have to be anything fancy - a shoe box would suffice.
Some things you may put in the memory box makes no sense to anyone else. Why do I have this stamp of a rabbit in the memory box?
It is a reminder Kevin was born in the year of the rabbit.

I believe that having something to carry on our loved ones memory is crucial. I don't have a memory box but I do have a memory bear for my dad with his picture on the bears necklace. I have a bear that is 23 years old I've had since my grandmother gave it to me right before she passed away from cancer. I have Christmas cards from dad that get hung up every year. I made a pillow out of my mother in laws clothes for my father in law after she passed. A few weeks ago I made 3 pillows from my cousins clothes and sent then in the mail to their family. My cousin lost two sons at the same exact time from an overdose. Here's the pillows
This is an up close picture of the smaller one. The pillow is made from both boys shirts.

The memory box reminds me of a lot of things ,no need to mention but good idea to have one there are things should always be in our good memory. It has touched me deeply

I find I put quite a few obituaries and cards in the memory box. How about one for a b’day or Christmas present? Hint, hint @ninjajon! It would be nice homemade.
He could make me one for sure but he has such a big honey do list right now. lol I'd be better off buying one. :P
I'll make her one if she wants me to. I have a feeling she wants her office done first. lol
