Tomorrow is this day again ...

This day, where humans think they can have lots of fun with explosions

Let's take a look at this worldwide tradition:

  • billions of dollars are blown away and going up in smoke
  • talking about smoke: we stop cars from driving in our cities for our health - make sure you do not breath outside on New Year's Eve! The air is three times as bad as on a normal day
  • talking about bad things: did you ever try to find out under which conditions the fireworks are manufactured? 97% of the worldwide production comes from India and China with workers dying in burning fabrics and children working for starvation wages.

A German newspaper taz wrote:

"They do not have fingernails anymore. Her hands are burned. Arms and face are marked by burn scars. According to the Don Bosco Children's Fund, children in the South Indian city of Sivakasi produce rockets, guns, and sparklers.“

The organization Aktiv gegen Kinderarbeit knows:

About 70,000 children work in the fireworks industry in India. According to the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi, the children start at the age of five. Ten to twelve-year-olds work up to 13 hours a day - six days a week. They only earn a fraction of what the adult workers get, but they are exposed to extreme danger in their work.

Things, humans do not (want to) know to have a good conscience while burning money that could even save lives just by not spending it and for sure if it would be given to organizations helping others.

Last but not least: the animals!

As I explained in an earlier post, we animals don't understand what's going on there.

We are afraid.
All these bangs, lightning and smell of fire.

If all the above-given arguments regarding the disadvantages for humans do not let you think different about fireworks perhaps you are an animal lover and think twice when igniting the next firecracker.

To be honest, I do not think my little post will let you think different about fireworks

As long as people are calling themselves animal lovers because they have a cat, dog or any other type of animal in their home and enjoy their steak for dinner there is something wrong with their mindset which can't be changed with a post.

But I'll keep trying.

That being said, I'm curious how many steemians will unfollow me 😜.

Have a wonderful 2019!

I'll be under my blankets for the next two days

Absolutely terrified! I never stop barking once I hear it! Thankfully this new year's I didn't actually hear it, and now that I think about it that is delightfully odd. Cheers!
